Chapter 1265
"Then you should remember the last incident. I went to great lengths to resolve it for you. If this time Sydney being shot is your doing, I won't protect you again. I'll make sure you pay the price!"
Smack!
Chandra slapped Christopher across the face.
"Christopher, do you realize I'm your mother?"
Christopher gritted his teeth. "It's because you're my mother that I protected you last time. But this time..."
"This time? You're always talking about 'ifs!"" Chandra sneered coldly. "If I'm not the one responsible, will you kneel and apologize to me?"
"Mom, was this your doing or not?" Christopher clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles cracked. "Tell me the truth!"
"I don't have time to do such things. Believe it or not."
Chandra glared at him coldly and said, "You've really disappointed me. Without any evidence, you come here accusing your own mother. Is this the kind of person you think I am? For an outsider, you'd doubt me like this. It breaks my heart!"
Christopher's clenched fists slowly loosened. Finally, he said, "I hope it truly wasn't you."
He turned and left. The moment the door closed, Chandra let out a heavy sigh.
"What kind of family is this?"
Either they were dead, or one by one, they all turned against her.
Suddenly, as if remembering something, Chandra grabbed a coat, threw it over her shoulders, and hurriedly left the room.
Theodore arrived at Rosalie's building. He wanted to take her up, but Rosalie stopped him.
"Theo, you should head back. I'll go up by myself."
"Rose, let me walk you up."
"There's no need. I'll go up on my own. Drive safely on your way back."
Rosalie, holding Steve in her arms, opened the car door and got out.
"Rose." Theodore followed her.
"What is it now?" Rosalie was clearly impatient. "Go back. Stop following me!"
"Those pieces of evidence where exactly did you get them? Can you tell me?"
Recalling the vow she had made,
Rosalie steeled herself and said, t doesn't matter anymore. What's important is that the evidence is real. As for where it came from, don't ask. I have my ways.
Carrying Steve, Rosalie went upstairs.
Theodore staggered back a few steps and leaned against the car.
"Rose, what should I do?"
Not long after Theodore drove away,
a black sedan stopped downstairs.
The car looked ordinary, like
any regular family might
drive.
Unexpectedly, the woman in the driver's seat was Chandra. She had deliberately chosen this inconspicuous vehicle.
After parking downstairs, she dialed Rosalie's number.
The phone was quickly answered. "Hello."
"It's me," Chandra's voice came through.
Rosalie found the voice familiar. "Are you Miss Fisher?"
"That's right. Can you come down for a moment? I have something to tell you."
"Sorry, I have nothing to say to you. I'm hanging up."noveldrama
"Wait," Chandra stopped her. "I have something important to tell you. If you don't listen, you'll regret it."
"What are you planning now? Are you trying to threaten me again?" Rosalie asked.
"It's not a threat—it's a negotiation. I assure you this is very important for you. How about this? I'll come.
upstairs to see you. Just open the door for me. I promise I'm alone."
There was a long silence on the other end.
"Fine, come up."
"Alright, I'm coming now."
UMS
Chandra hung up the phone and took a deep breath. Then, she opened the car door, stepped out, and headed upstairs.
Hearing the doorbell, Rosalie opened the door.
Chandra stood outside, her demeanor still composed, her expression cold as usual.
As soon as the door opened, she walked straight in, placed her bag aside, and sat down on the couch. "Can you pour me a glass of water?" Chandra seemed to be enduring something and looked somewhat tense.
What do you think?
