“You had the nerve to use my name for fraud! How dare you?”

“Can you just have some conscience and tell the truth for once?” Hailey intervened.

“Is the child Garry’s? Why did you take so much money from him?”

“You fucker! You deceived him, didn’t you? You only used him for his money.” Cole said, trying too hard not to pounce on Vanessa. “You know what? I feel you fucking deserve everything that is coming for you. God probably knows you will ruin the baby’s life so he took it from you!”

“Baby?!” Hailey approached Cole, touching his hand, she could see that he was very angry and Vanessa was even crying the more.

“I hope Garry sues you and makes sure you pay every penny you owe him.”

“I’m sorry!!! I’m fucking sorry, okay! I’m sorry and I regret it all?” Vee sobbed.

“Sorry for what exactly?! For almost ruining my woman and I? For wrongly accusing me on several occasions or for defrauding Garry?” At this point, Cole had shrugged his hands from Hailey, still glaring at Vanessa.

“For everything! For all the hurt I’ve caused and all the harm I have done to you all.”

“Oh, Please, you don’t mean any of them. You are just saying so because you know the cops are after you.” Cole countered.

Vanessa shook her head. “I know I have done so much harm but I promise that I deeply regret them.”

“Why are we even here, honey? Let’s get the hell out of here. Once she feels better, the cops will put her behind bars.” Cole said to Hailey.

“My mom made me do all of it?”

Cole rolled his eyes. “You are a grown woman and anything you do is well thought of. Don’t you dare blame Connie just because she isn’t here to defend herself? Connie is your accomplice and she will be punished but you bravely committed all evil.”

Vanessa ignored Cole and continued talking, seeing that she had all of Halley’s attention.

“Growing up, Connie had always put words in my head, telling me that I am better than Halley, 1 deserve more than Hailey, and that I am the real child while Hailey is the bastard one.

I didn’t want to end up in jail too so showing up in court was not an option. Running away seemed to be the best thing to do so l agreed.*

“I never wanted to ask Garry for money. Connie made me do it. She said we needed it to take care of ourselves during the hideout. I agreed and called Garry, Garry was being hesitant so I lied to him that I was pregnant with his child and that I owed you a huge sum of money.”

“An hour after he sent the money, we packed and left the house. I had no idea where we would be fleeing to or which accommodation we were going to be staying, Connie said she sorted everything”

“We lodged at a hotel very close to the airport with the intention of flying out from the country the following day.”

“I was about to go to bed when I overheard Connie talking to someone about transferring all the money in my account to her account. It was probably my accountant. I confronted her about it and she didn’t hesitate to hit me and scold me for how ungrateful I have been.”

“I was not going to let her bully me so she called two men to take me away.”

“I was refusing and she instructed them to deal with me. That is why I have these bruises on me. The men covered my mouth with a hard piece of clothing and dragged me out of the hotel through the back door. I was forced into a car and that’s all I can remember. I found myself here and the doctor said I am no longer pregnant.”

Vanessa sniffled. “An innocent life is gone. Cole is right. God knew I would be the worst mother so he took that gift from me.”

“I know there is nothing I would say that would make you both forgive me. Because the truth is that, even I won’t forgive myself if were in you all’s shoes. “I am not saying this because I need a company in jail. I’m just telling you because I think you deserve to know. That was where the hatred started. Connie wants Eric to be hers alone so the easiest thing to do was to clear your mom off the picture. Theh the hate was transferred to you.”

“You really have a strong and enviable destiny, Hailey, I swear to you that we did all our best to cheat you and bring you down but it always backfired.”

“You can choose not to sue Connie but I’m going to sue her regardless. She is going to pay for what happened to my baby,”
