Three Weeks Later.

Tyler just got off the phone when a knock came through on his office door.

His eyes flashed towards the door. “Come in.”

Almost immediately, the door flung open and Raina, his assistant, stepped in.

“You have a visitor, Sir.”

“Who?” He said confused, since he wasn’t expecting anyone.

“Vanessa Summers.”

“Why? What is she doing here?” Tyler frowned even deeper.

“She said she has something important to discuss with you.”

Tyler rose to his feet from where he was seated and approached the door. He stopped by his assistant before walking out of the door. “I don’t want to ever see her here. Pass the order to the securities.”

Raina nodded immediately.

Ty exited his office and immediately sighted Vanessa who was seated on the couch at the reception. She saw him walking towards her so she rose to her feet with a smile on her face.

“Why are you here?” Tyler said firmly the moment he approached her. She was putting on a short bodycon dress that revealed her small bump, and matching heels.

“Hi, Ty!” She smiled.

“Say what you have to say in a minute. The securities are on their way to throw you out.”

“Don’t you think you are being too harsh?”

“You expect me to be nice to you? For fucks sake I don’t know you.”

“You don’t need to be cranky with me. I came here to strike a deal with you.”

He frowned and stared at her in disgust. “What makes you think I would want to strike a deal with you?”

“We can go to your office to talk.”

“There is no way I’m letting you into my space.”

“You don’t need to sound upset. I came here for a good talk. Something that is going to make you and I happy.”

“You’ve got 30 seconds left to be thrown out,”

“Go seduce Hailey.” Vanessa voiced out

“I knew you had nothing sensible to say.”

“Of course I do. You are the one acting weird and ungrateful.”

“Ungrateful? Don’t you think you are acting too brave? You come in here without an appointment and you think you are going to convince me with any evil thoughts you’ve got?”

“Hailey is happy with her man. Don’t you think it’s time to give up and do something useful with your life?”

“Are you trying to hurt me?” Vanessa mumbled, holding her clutch tighter to her side.

She pointed at her belly. “This is a product of me and Cole’s love. You think I am going to give up on him just like that? That’s not going to happen. If not for anything, I am going to do it for my baby,”

“I thought this was going to be a good conversation. What changed? I thought you loved Hailey?”

“I do. And no matter how hard I try to forget her, I still can’t. Cole doesn’t know how much of a lucky bastard he is to have Hailey to himself.”

Vanessa frowned. “Cole doesn’t love Hailey. She’s just fond of seducing him.”

“Really? Have you seen them when they are together?”

Vanessa shrugged. “It doesn’t matter. Anyone can pretend.”

“You sound disgusting the way you speak.”

“No, I don’t. You are the one acting like you don’t care. You love Hailey but you would rather sit back and watch her be with another man.”

“Why are you here when those two have chosen each other?”

“As I said earlier, they are just pretending.”

“I still don’t understand what that has to do with me.”

“Okay, just calm down and listen to my plan. You only need to get involved with Hailey. We will take some pictures and then show them to Cole. They get separated, you get Hailey and I get the love of my life back.”

Tyler chuckled in disbelief. “Are you serious?”

Vanessa nodded immediately.

“Isn’t this this silly stunt you pulled the first time?”

Vanessa smiled. “Yes, I pulled the same stunt for them to be together. No doubt it would work best to separate them. I am sure Cole would want nothing to do with her when he sees the pictures. Cool right?”

“You disgust me!”

The smile on Vanessa’s lips slowly faded. “Why would you say that? I thought we were in this together.”

“Hailey’s your sister for fucks sake. Why would you even suggest this to me.”

“My step–sister!!”

“You like Hailey and I like Cole. Isn’t this a win–win situation for us?”

Ty exhaled, massaging his temple. “I hate Cole for taking away the woman I love but at the same time, I am thankful you are not his woman. I

mean, if you could hurt your sister so badly, then no one is safe with you. Not even your man.”

“I am not a bad person, trust me! Only Hailey tries to bring out the demon in me. I want my man back! Why doesn’t she get it?”

“Do you think I’m stupid for choosing not to go extreme? Do you really know what love is?”

“Love is selfless even when it hurts you.”

“I know Hailey cares so much about me but I also know that she would never look at me the way she looks at Cole. If Cole keeps choosing

Hailey over you, then it is because he wants nothing from you. Even if he is with you against his will, he is never going to treat you the way he

treats Hailey. She has a special place in his heart so you need to give up.”

“And I’m sure he will support the child If he’s the father so Please just let them be. Accept the bitter truth and heal. You’re gonna look back at this moment and be glad you made this decision.”

Vanessa shook her head.

“Look, I may be the saddest man on earth because Hailey chose another man over me. But you need to know that Hailey and I have come a long way and I respect her so much. I love her so much and God knows I would do anything to see her smile, and that includes letting her be with the person that makes her happy.”

“Take your leave and don’t you ever set foot in here. If you do, you are going to be disgraced.” Ty said then took his leave.

“Wait up! I’ve got another idea.” Vanessa said, disappointed, running after him.

EVENING!

Hailey was seated on the chair behind her desk. Her eyes were glued to the iPad on her desk and she smiled sheepishly as she watched the love of her life make his way up to where she was.

A knock came through the door making her giggle. Cole helped himself in, holding a small gift bag and a bouquet of roses.

Hailey jumped to her feet and made her way towards him. Cole was ready to embrace her despite his hands being full. She was just two steps away from him when a strong smell took over her nostrils, making her instantly sick to the stomach.

Hailey stopped in her tracks, brought her hand up to her mouth, and ran as fast as her legs could carry her to the adjoined bathroom.
