“Nicolette?” He called me out, his voice was raspy.

“Hey, you.” I kissed his lips and brushed his hair with my fingers. “I’ve missed you, I’m so sorry about before. Please forgive me?”. He wiped my tears away and smiled.

“If I’d known that you will be back, I would do something drastic sooner.” I slapped his arm playfully.

“I love you Nicolette and I’ve missed you too.” I blushed as I remembered his parents were behind me.

His father coughed. “Right then, we’re going to leave you two kids alone for now. I’m going to take your mother back home to get some rest. Will be back later this evening.”

I moved to his other side, giving the space for his parents, to say their goodbyes. “We love you, Brenton, please don’t push us out.” His mom scolded his hair lovingly and kissed his temple.

“Mum… not in front of Nikki please, I’m keeping my bad boy image here.” He tried to laugh, but he gripped his abdomen and took a deep breath.

“Oh, my baby boy. I’ve missed your sense of humor. We will be back tonight okay? I’m bringing Nicolette coffee and dinner later. Are you good staying that long here? I don’t want to impose.” I said would love that. They smiled at me and hugged Brenton once last time before they left. Laura also said her goodbye, saying she wanted to gave us some privacy, and winked at me making me laughed.

“Damn! Maybe I should come back later?” I blushed looking at the man by the door, must be one of Brenton’s friends.

“Dude! Come in, I want you to meet Nicolette. Babe, this is Shane. The one I told you about at Barney’s.” We shake hands, and he came closer to Brenton’s side.

“Shit! Brent. You look like hell. I should’ve got one of my guys to take you home last night. I’m sorry Nicolette, it’s my fault.” He looked really sorry. Though Brenton just laughed at him, but then winced seconds later.

“Hey Shane, it’s cool man. I get my girl back now. I’m just grateful I’m alive. I was ready to give him my wallet you know, it’s not worth the fight. I can already feel his knife. But there were a couple that passed us by and the girl screamed, scaring the mugger.” He explained.

“So here I am. I’m just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Though you might want to consider working with a taxi company for your clients. I was having difficulties getting a taxi last night, that’s why I walked further down the lane.” He told Shane while fondling with my hand.

“Mm hmm..” Shane was agreeing with Brenton, but wouldn’t leave his eyes from my face.

“You know you look really familiar. Have we met? Have I seen you somewhere?” I shake my head saying no. At the same time, Regan came to the room.

She looked at me with her eagle eyes, making sure I was okay. Then hugged me, suffocating me. Until I tapped her back repeatedly, coughing, and taking my breath.

“I’m good Reg. The casualty lays on that bed.” She came to Brenton’s side and hugged him and he smiled at her.

“How are you, Brenton? I heard the news from Laura. I came here as soon as could, just making sure Nic is good.” She gave him a big smile.

“Oh my god! You two! I knew it, your THE Reg and Nic that have all the boys in the locker room talking about. Shit! Brent! You just hit the jackpot here.” Shane sounded too excited, making Brenton looked at us a bit confused.

Shane slapped Brent’s arm playfully. “Damn! Sorry man, I forgot you were busy with your personal life, at that time. But anyway they’re quite the talk of the campus man, they were the hottest lesbian couple! I mean, they would make out anywhere Brent. So hot! I’m Shane by the way.” I was blushing crimson by this time. Regan was smiling smugly at Shane now. And Brenton, well he looked so confused right now, between horny and jealous and horny again.

“You’re good there Brenton. We’re definitely over. You don’t have anything to worry about. Well maybe if you hurt her. I will definitely hunt you down myself, and do some unimaginable things to you.” Regan shrugged and smiled sweetly at me.

Shane was practically drooling by now. Making me shake with laughter at him. “Seriously Brenton, I don’t know how you choose your friends, but you might want to consider this one here.” We were laughing until the doctor came, and we went silent right away. Finally remembered why were here, taking us back to Brenton.

He talked and asked Brenton about how he had been feeling, then check his vitals. He gave the nurses some instructions and scribbled on the pad that was attached to his bed. Then he left us.

When the nurse checked on the bandage under his hospital gown I winced. I didn’t realize the wound was that large.

I gripped his other hand, as he took mine as kissed it. “It’s okay Nikki, it looks worse than it felt. I’m good now that I got you back.” He kissed my cheek making my heart fluttered.
