Chasing Back My Ex-wife

Chapter 37

Chapter 37

Lucy was confused for a while until she realized that he wasn't dressed. "I'll go get Aunty Julianne."

After that, she stood up.

"There's no need!" Arthur pushed himself up off the floor and stood up shakily. He looked at Lucy while putting on his clothes one by one.

She was such a heartless woman. She was unaffected even after seeing that he was so seriously injured!

Lucy leaned against the door and waited for him to finish putting on his clothes before asking indifferently, "Can you walk on your own?"

"...I can't!" Arthur calmly put his arm around her shoulders and leaned his tall body against her.

He looked thin, but he was actually very heavy. Lucy nearly fell down from his weight. "Arthur, can you use more of your own strength?"

If it weren't because every was asleep, she would have just asked the servants to take him to the hospital.

"Now you realize I'm heavy? Why didn't you say so when I pressed you beneath me in bed before?" Arthur rested his head against her neck and secretly sniffed her perfume. Why had he never realized she smelled so good?

Lucy helped him down the stairs as her lips curled into a mocking smile. "Didn't you also say that was

'before'?"

Arthur felt hurt at her mocking expression. Back then, when he had said mean things while she always stuck to him, had she felt the same kind of hurt?

All the way to the hospital, they were silent.

While cleaning Arthur's wound, the doctor nagged, "Young man, don't blame me for being long-winded, but you shouldn't drive so fast. When an accident happens, you're going to be the one getting hurt, aren't you? You..."

"Drive?" Lucy interrupted the doctor. Thinking of how Arthur had looked when he arrived at the police station to find her, a random guess popped into her mind...

The doctor looked up at her and was about to answer when Arthur suddenly hissed, "Be more gentle!"

"I'm already being so gentle, but yet you ask me to be more gentle? Young people like you nowadays can't bear any challenges or hardships. You're all too delicate!" The doctor forgot Lucy's question and continued nagging at Arthur.

After his wound was bandaged, they left the hospital.

"Arthur, how did you get the injury on your leg?" Lucy sat in the driver's seat and turned to look at Arthur.

Maybe it was because he had lost too much blood or because light was shining on his face, but Arthur

looked quite pale. He didn't look as arrogant as he always did.

However, the moment he spoke, he proved to Lucy that she was just seeing things. "How I got hurt has nothing to do with you!"

"Oh." Lucy felt relieved. Thank goodness it was just her wishful thinking.

If he had really gotten into an accident because he was worried about her, then she would feel very stressed!

Her "oh" shut Arthur up, and he could only keep his temper bottled up.

It was already 4 a.m. when they arrived back at Llindbarry Chateau.

Arthur was angry, so he ignored her and went straight to his room. He walked even faster than someone who wasn't injured.

Lucy didn't mind anyway. She felt suffocated just by walking beside him.

When she finally got back to the room, she heard the sound of running water coming from the bathroom.

"Arthur!" Lucy knocked on the door a few times. She felt that she would have said the same thing even if someone else were injured. "Your wound has just been bandaged, it shouldn't touch water!"

Creak!

The door opened, and Arthur walked out with a bath towel around his waist. He ignored her and lay down on the bed.

"Arthur, I've brought the contract." The Pate Group's issue was a weight on Lucy's chest. If she didn't solve it, she would keep feeling uneasy.

Envy swelled in Arthur until it nearly devoured him completely. "Why, you care so much about that ordinary friend of yours!"

She had only said "oh" when he was injured.

He had done so much that night, but she still thought about Maddox!

"After I sign this contract, you'll spare the Pate Group." After such an eventful night, Lucy was really exhausted. She didn't want to argue with him anymore.

She took out the contract and handed a fountain pen to him at the same time.

Arthur took the contract. He really wanted to fling it to the floor and destroy Pate Group. However, his hands were more well-behaved than his mind. He signed the contract with a tantrum.

"Okay." Lucy signed her name and gave him a copy of the contract while keeping one for herself. "Can you spare the Pate Group now?"

"Please me, and I will spare the Pate Group." A sly look creeped into Arthur's eyes. He had set this trap back then just so she would fall into it herself.

However, when she really came to beg him for another man's sake, he felt very uncomfortable. He felt as though his heart was being squeezed by invisible hands, and he felt terrible.

Lucy's hand paused in mid-air, then she tossed the contract aside. "Alright."

She took off her shoes and got on the bed. She sat in his lap facing him and lowered her head to kiss his lips slowly... Just like how she had pleased him back then.

"Enough!" Arthur pulled away from her lips as his temples throbbed. His whole body was tense.

She had trembled while kissing him. If she hated touching him that much, then why did she sign the contract for another man?

He did not want to know the reason, nor did he dare find out. He pushed her away almost miserably. "The Pate Group will come to no harm!"

After that, he got out of bed, put on his clothes, and strode out of the room.

Bang!

The moment the door closed, tears streamed from Lucy's eyes.

She wiped her tears away indifferently and slumped onto the bed.

There had been three years where she had lain on that bed every day and flirted with Arthur just to please him.

But now, they were still the same people and the bed was still the same bed, but when she kissed him, she felt an inexplainable sense of humiliation and disgust!

Lucy forced herself to cast aside those annoying thoughts and sent a text to her secretary. She told her that she was busy and wouldn't make it to work.

She was exhausted both physically and mentally. After a while, she drifted off into deep slumber.

...

When Lucy woke up, the sun was already high in the sky.

She took out her phone and checked the time. It was 11.30 a.m. and there were eight missed calls, all of which were from Kylah.

Maybe she slept too soundly and hadn't heard anything.

She patted her dizzy head and called Kylah back. "Babe, have you gone crazy? Why did you call so many times?"

"Mommy, Aunt Kylah keeps crying. I called you so many times but you didn't pick up." It was Caden on the phone, and there was a hint of worry in his sweet voice.

What?! Was Kylah, that strong woman who needed no man, actually crying?! Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

Lucy sobered up at once. She comforted Caden, put on her clothes as fast as she could, then went downstairs.

Aunty Julianne came out of the kitchen right then. "Ma'am, the food is ready. Would you like to eat now?"

"No thanks, Aunty Julianne. I have some urgent business to attend to!" She gave Aunty Julianne an apologetic smile and ran out.

Kylah was someone who wouldn't shed a tear even if someone slapped her. She was the kind who would slap that person back!

Something that could make her cry was...big trouble!
