Chapter 77
“Oh, my God!” Sydney screamed as she looked at the time.
“What is the problem?” Paxton asked her looking around and scared.
“I had a date with your brother and I have somehow stood him up” she explained looking sad.
“I had contemplated cancelling but then I forgot to call him” she smacked her on the head as though she wanted to cry.
“Well, I guess he would understand you needed some time to yourself” Paxton tried to curb the situation but she was feeling awful about it.
“Well, why don’t you check your phone to see, since we’ve been here it’s not rung right? Maybe he got busy” Paxton explained.
When she took out her phone it showed fifteen missed calls ten from Jaxton and Five from Naya.
“Oh my phone was on silent, he has called me many times” Sydney explained.
“And knowing him he should be extremely mad at me right now” She sat on the bench.
She realised Paxton had turned into a little guy and was talking with her and she wondered what he was. would have been telling her because she smiled.NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
Then he walked back to her side.
“I could drop you home if you want” Paxton suggested since he saw how distraught she was.
She called Naya.
“Girl Jacyom has been on my phone all evening where the heck have you been and why weren’t you picking up?” Naya asked.
Sydney explained everything to her and somehow Naya was happy Sydney had stood Jaxton up but she didn’t like the fact that he had been bothering her phone while she tried bonding with her boyfriend.
“Just get to him girl” and the phone beeped suggesting the call had been cut.
“I would love to but if I go with you and Jaxton sees us he would begin to have some ideas,” she said calmly.
“I’ll walk, I live just close by,” she said.
“Okay, that’s fine, I understand what you mean clearly and I won’t push it too hard” Paxton replied and walked her a distance before turning back to his car.
Somehow he felt like watching her go a long way before he followed.
It was the evening already and lost times those evil bad boys lurked around and he would not like to hear stories which touched although Sydney claimed to be a touched woman
He followed her until he saw her climb her porch and pick up the bouquet that had been placed there probably by Jaxton who came and didn’t see her.
He felt bad for her because of the sad look she had on her countenance.
He had the pull to go hug her but held himself he could not make her know he had followed her even when she had refused.
She looked around and read the note which read;
‘Why do you keep doing this to me, why do you make room for suspicion to be the order of the day in our relationship? I took you for your word and knew you were going to come for us to spend the day together but what I see next would surely haunt me in my sleep.
Ps: Do you love my brother so much that being with him makes you feel super happy?
I see your eyes light up when he entered the room, does he make you bubbly than I do?”
She knew for a fact that he had seen her with Paxton at the pack.
That’s crazy why would he come right to the pack and then not come to her?
Sydney had honestly forgotten and she didn’t even know he called.
Taking out her phone she began to dial his number but as usual, Paxton rejected the calls.
He had gone out with friends and this night was going to be long.
She began to regret why she had not just called to inform him she wanted the day to herself and not have people around her.
How was she going to explain to him that she and Paxton didn’t plan on going to the pack?
How was she going to let him know that they had just met at the pack and she was hoping he would leave early so she could get back he but discussions caught her up.
Maybe Jaxton was right! Maybe he was falling for his brother.
She didn’t know what they had been discussing for long but somehow even when his jokes were not laughable she laughed along with him.
“Oh God I messed up yet again”
From outside, Paxton could see her frustrated and slouching on the couch through her window, he stayed there for a few minutes before finally driving off.
Then out of nowhere, Jaxton drove out from under the tree he had been hiding and stood in front of Sydney’s house with a bottle of whiskey in hand his eyes were super red.
“I can’t believe they could betray me this way, and he even dropped her a few meters from the house so she could walk as though I can’t see them together, they are all backstabbers” he slurred his words.
Jaxton was hurt and he felt they had betrayed him.
He felt betrayed by Sydney because he had forgone his promiscuous lifestyle just for her to turn around and hurt him this ample.
He drive his car away while Sydney decided she would have to go to their home in the morning to explain to him that what he saw was not what he was supposed to be thinking and that everything was a mere coincidence.
She had sent messages but he didn’t respond so what she had to do was stay quiet and hope that the night was not going to be as long as she was thinking.
As she climbed onto the bed a message came in, she hurried to her phone thinking it was Jaxton but it was Paxton.
‘Sleep tight, hugs’ the message read sending her into more of a dilemma than she had expected.
The night was going to be super long with thoughts for sure.
