Chapter 86 The Cabin
When they arrived in front of the run-down cabin, Blanche pushed open the door with a creak. A musty smell spread as she entered. Inside, there was a cupboard, a bed, and a pile of straw on the bed.
Blanche didn't know who had constructed this little cabin, but at least it was a place to seek shelter for the night.
"You clean up here and see if there's anything useful in the cupboard. I'll go gather some firewood. We'll make a fire tonight and spend the night here," Louis said.
Blanche nodded, and after Louis left, she opened the cupboard. To her surprise, there was a worn- out blanket inside. She was ecstatic. After all, it would definitely be cold at night, and this was helpful.
Blanche dusted off the bed, and Louis returned with a bundle of firewood, starting a fire in the center of the cabin.
There was a sound of something rubbing against each other. Blanche approached and saw that Louis was holding two white flints in his hand. He rubbed them together, and a flame ignited.
Blanche was puzzled. "How did Louis possess such survival skills?" she wondered.
"Do you know how to start a fire?" she asked.
Born in such a wealthy family, he didn't even need to enter the kitchen. How did he know about flints? And when she looked at his posture-left leg forward, right leg back, one high and one low. What was more, he had a straight back. Blanche had an idea.
"You've been in the military before, have you?" This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Where I've been isn't as easygoing as the military," Louis replied as he added more wood to the fire.
Upon hearing his proud response, Blanche pouted. "Hmph! Could it be that he has been to hell?" she wondered.
In the glow of the fire, his handsome face seemed flawless from every angle. No matter how she looked at him, he was handsome.
Blanche squatted down beside the firepit, thinking, "What's the point of his attractive face on a man with such a bad temper?"
Both of them sat around the fire, with Louis staring at the flames while Blanche flipped through the photo album on her phone, occasionally sneaking glances at Louis.
Her back was getting colder and colder, so Blanche put down her phone, picked up the warm blanket by the wall, and lay down on the bed.
Though Blanche lay on the bed, she couldn't fall asleep. It had been such a thrilling day. She picked up her phone and remembered that she had downloaded a TV series. Although there was no internet access, she could still watch the downloaded episodes.
Finding the series, Blanche began watching. She lost track of time, and Louis approached the bed.
"What are you doing?" Blanche asked warily, turning to face him.
"I am going to sleep on the bed. Do you want me to sit by the fire pit all night?" Louis retorted sarcastically.
Blanche knew from experience that sitting there for too long would make her feel stiff and uncomfortable. She moved closer to the wall.
"But you can't do anything stupid on the bed. Don't touch me. We'll each take one side of the bed."
Louis looked disdainful, rested his head on his arm, and lay down on the outer edge of the bed with his long legs crossed.
Blanche glanced at his legs, which were significantly longer than her own. His legs were undeniably long, encased in straight brown trousers. They were attractive.
She swallowed with difficulty and looked up. His blue shirt was under his coat, and the hem was tucked into a gold-bordered belt. He was indeed handsome and sexy with a good shape of his figure.
Blanche found herself mesmerized and quickly turned her head away, pretending to be uninterested. She fixed her gaze on the screen of her phone and thankfully, the plot of the drama was captivating enough to shift her attention.
After lying down, Louis stared at the cabin ceiling because Blanche's loud drama made him unable to fall asleep as if firecrackers were being set off next to his ears.
Blanche had a habit of watching shows with the volume turned up loud. It stemmed from her days of watching TV with her grandmother, who had poor hearing. To accommodate her, Blanche would turn up the volume to the maximum, resulting in this habit.
Louis turned around and could see Blanche's pretty face. He noticed that she was engrossed in watching a frivolous drama. He couldn't understand how Blanche could find such a boring plot so absorbing.
Suddenly, there was a loud bang from outside, most likely caused by the wind knocking something over. Without thinking, Blanche twisted her waist and moved closer to Louis, nuzzling her head against his arm.
She didn't notice anything wrong, so she absentmindedly scratched her head, continuing to watch her drama.
Louis glanced at the arm that Blanche was using as a pillow, the expression on his face complicated. After a few minutes, he realized that Blanche hadn't moved her head away. The conversation in the show playing on her phone became even more deafening.
As Blanche watched, she suddenly felt a warm breath pouring over her forehead. She turned her head to the side, and his handsome face was over hers. He whispered in a soft tone helplessly, "Can you turn down the sound? It's not good for your ears to have the sound so loud."
