Chapter 12
Chapter

When Niamh returned to Maplewood, she immediately sensed something was off. Tilda, who answered the door, looked at her with a hint of apprehension. "Madam Jamison is here." Niamh raised an eyebrow,
As expected, Renee couldn't wait even a minute longer.
She tugged at her slightly disheveled hair and stepped inside, only to find Renee lounging on the grand couch like she owned the place.
In her previous life, Niamh had rushed to fetch tea and attend to Renee like a dutiful servant whenever she saw her like this.
Back then, she had been desperate to please Castiel's family, unaware that the more humble she tried to be, the less they regarded her. Niamh changed her shoes and tossed her bag carelessly onto the couch.
"Tilda."
Yes, Madam Jamison?" Tilda hurried over, showing utmost respect as she approached Renee. Renee's disdain for Niamh was palpable as she openly looked at the latter with contempt. "Sanitize the house immediately. She has brought back terrible luck from a place like that. No one has ever embarrassed our family as much as she did before."
Niamh closed her eyes at these words, then opened them again with a steely gaze. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
Tilda looked nervously at Niamh as she took off her coat and threw it harshly onto the floor.
Renee's eyes widened in shock. She hadn't believed Niamh's audacity when they spoke on the phone. Now, it seemed like Niamh had completely lost it.
"What do you think you're doing?"
"You're right. Being associated with certain people is indeed incredibly unlucky," Niamh said, mimicking Renee's tone with a biting edge.
She was obviously referring to the Jamisons.
In the past, Niamh would never have spoken this way, and always adhered to Renee's instructions with obedience. She used to be so compliant; now her rebellion was unmistakable and disturbing. Renee's face flushed with anger. "I see you've grown a pair now. Listen carefully. Not just anyone is qualified to be a part of our family. Believe it or not, I'll have Castiel divorce you!"
As Castiel walked in, he overheard Renee's harsh words. His expression immediately hardened. Seeing him, Tilda quickly spoke up, "Mr. Jamison."
It was to remind both Niamh and Renee of who entered the house.
Renee's attitude changed as soon as she saw Castlel.
"Control your wife," she said in a softer tone, though the disdain in her voice was unconcealable.
After marrying Castiel, Niamh had originally lived in Jamison Manor. But because Renee could never accept her, Castiel had moved them out to protect her. Even though Renee had been furious, Castlel was adamant. As she didn't want to ruin her relationship with her son, Renee eventually compromised. However, every holiday visit was filled with difficulties for Niamh, but she managed to endure them.
Now though, Niamh wasn't going to tolerate it anymore. "Ms. Clark, I think you're mistaken. I'm no longer your daughter-in-law, nor am I your son's wife." "Niamh." Castiel's tone was clipped as he addressed her.
Was divorce all she could think of now?
Renee couldn't believe her ears. She even thought she had misheard when Niamh mentioned it on the phone. "You... you asked for a divorce?" What right did she have to demand a divorce?
Renee had barely restrained herself from yelling over the phone. And now, seeing Niamh in person, she was practically trembling with fury and wishing she could tear Niamh apart. Before she could fully unleash her anger, Castiel stepped in front of Niamh and said, "Tilda, arrange for a driver to take Madam Jamison home.
"You're still protecting her?" Renee roared.
Castiel was always deliberately shielding Niamh, but Renee could never figure out what it was about Niamh that he liked so much that he kept standing up for her.
Castiel said nothing and only urged Tilda to do as he said.
It made Renee stomp her foot in frustration. "What kind of spell have you been under to be so completely captivated by this useless, barren woman?"
