Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 264

If that happened, she could go back to being a pampered young lady.

"Enough."

A trace of bitterness surfaced in Helena's eyes. "We're already in this situation, yet you're still wasting time cursing and complaining. What's the point?"

"Am I wrong? This is all because of Janice-"

"Shut up."

She glanced around warily, afraid that someone might overhear. At the same time, she was beginning to feel genuine frustration toward Sarah.

"Simon has worked so hard to support this family. You're my daughter too, so why don't you contribute? Did I raise you just so you could sit around doing nothing?"

"Listen to me carefully. You're taking this job whether you like it or not. The money Simon sends me is for me, not for you. If you expect to live off me, you're in for a rude awakening. Just look at Simon, then think about how useless you've been."

Sarah was unwilling to accept this. "Since when are women expected to work this hard?"

"Did you hear me?" Helena's voice turned sharp.

"I... I heard you," she muttered.

She knew better than to disobey when Helena was truly angry.

When Monday arrived, Sarah had no choice but to report to the new factory in Yewford Town.

Inside an office, she caught a glimpse of the many seamstresses who had arrived for their first day. A wave of envy surged in her chest. Simon's company, Refined Threads Co., must have been this successful in the past as well.

"Ms. Smith, these are the employees for the cashier positions." Luther personally led Janice inside.

Hearing that, Sarah turned her head. The moment she saw Janice's face, she shot up from her chair. "Why is it you?"

Janice was momentarily surprised to see her but kept her expression neutral. Simon had fallen so far down that it was no shock to see Helena and Sarah returning to the town to get by.

Stepping forward, she met Sarah's gaze. "I wasn't expecting to see you here. It has been a while."

The other cashiers quicklynoveldrama

understood the situation. The Fitzgerald family must have lost everything and come back to Yewford Town in disgrace. Their expressions shifted into thinly veiled contempt.

"I apologize. I misunderstood the situation. I won't be taking this job," Sarah declared, acting as if she had a great sense of dignity. Without waiting for a response, she turned to leave.

Janice did not bother stopping her and simply signaled for the others to begin working.

When she exited the office, she noticed that Sarah had stopped outside the door. A faint laugh escaped her lips. She walked forward without acknowledging her.

Panic flared in Sarah's eyes. "Janice."

Janice paused and glanced back.

"Shouldn't you be treating me better? My father was—"

"Shut up."

Janice had no patience for her entitled demands. "Stop using your father's name to guilt-trip me. If anyone owes a debt, it's the Smith

family to your father, not to your

family of leeches. Do you expect me

to sacrifice everything just to

support your family forever? You

truly are shameless."

"You..."

As Janice turned to leave, Sarah rushed forward and grabbed the handle of her

car door.

"Janice, you have to give me a

respectable job. The salary must be

at least ten or twenty thousand dollars, and it can't be too demanding. If you refuse, I'll make sure everyone in Yewford Town knows that you're ungrateful. Let us see if anyone dares to work with you then."
