Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 256

Audrey's mouth was even sharper than Helena's.

Janice had been standing there for a full minute now. She made no move to intervene.

Only when Audrey turned slightly did her face come into full view. A flicker of recognition flashed through Janice's eyes. She had seen this face before. A slow smile tugged at her lips.

"Ms. Smith..."

Yvonne, noticing that smile, panicked. She thought Janice was really about to lose

her temper.

"Come on! Break it up already!" she rushed to say.

Janice asked calmly, "What's her name?"

Yvonne quickly answered, "Audrey. She used to specialize in artisan crochet before switching to double-sided crochet. Out of all the new seamstresses we recruited this batch, her skills are the most impressive."

So, Onley Group sent someone skilled this time.

Audrey finally turned to face Janice, completely unfazed. Instead of looking guilty, she threw another vicious glare at the old seamstress.

"Ms. Smith!" The older woman clutched at her chest, fuming. "These new seamstresses don't respect their seniors at all! First, they worship foreign trends, and now, they're getting violent-"

"Oh, so it's fine for you to insult and hit me, but I can't hit back?" Audrey cut her off without hesitation. "Does old age give you the right to be shameless?"

The older seamstress nearly fainted from rage.

"Enough." Janice gestured to the others to return to work, then glanced at Audrey. "Come with me."noveldrama

Audrey hesitated for a brief second.

She silently followed Janice toward the office, watching as Janice gave a few instructions to Marie along the way.

Her mind was already preparing for a lecture not that she cared. As long as she didn't get fired, everything else was irrelevant.

To her complete shock, Janice personally poured her a glass of water and set it down in front of her after they stepped into the office.

For the first time in years, Audrey was completely speechless.

"In the crochet industry, seniority matters a lot. The older crocheters tend to be sensitive about it. Don't take it too personally," Janice said casually.

Audrey blinked, feeling like her brain was lagging.

The CEO of Prosper Stitch Group's Product Divison was comforting her? This was insane!

"Just focus on your craft. If you produce great work, your talent will speak for itself, and you'll get the recognition you deserve. Don't let gossiping women distract you from your job."

With that, Janice picked up a brand-new bottle of perfume from her desk and placed it in front of Audrey. The bottle was still unopened.

"I saw from your resume that you used to work overseas. You probably know this brand. It's not an international luxury brand, but it's decent. Take it home and try it."

Audrey swallowed hard. "You... You're not punishing me?"

"Why would I punish you?" Janice pulled out a design blueprint from a stack of documents and handed it over. "Take this back and work on it. It's primarily artisan crochet, but it has elements of double-sided crochet mixed in."

Ever since Audrey joined Prosper Stitch Group, she had been working on basic orders alongside the rest of the team. Now, all of a sudden, she was being assigned an individual task. Her hands shook slightly as she took the design.

She was, without a doubt, a crochet genius.

But after so many years at Onley Group, she had never been valued for her skills. Instead, her job hadè been recruiting seamstresses and manipulating and convincing them to walk into Onley Group's trap. Her tatent had been completely ignored. Cóntent belongs to

Audrey studied the design for a few seconds before lifting her gaze. "I... I can do it! I can complete this piece!"

Janice lowered her voice slightly, glancing toward the door. "Take it home and work on it quietly. Many new seamstresses joined recently. There might be spies sent from rival companies. Do your best. I trust your ability."

For the first time since she had come to the Prosper Stitch Group, Audrey felt uneasy. "I understand, Ms. Smith."

As soon as she got home that evening, she clutched her bag tightly and rushed inside.

Not long after, Louis' daily interrogation call came in. "Did you get anything useful today?"

"No," Audrey replied.

"Then what the hell have you been doing all day?" Louis snapped.

Audrey yawned. "I got into a fight with some senile old hag. Then I got dragged

into Ms. Smith's office for a lecture."

Louis was speechless.
