Chapter 40
Kirk’s pov
“Mr. Ira, please help us…. We really can lose this job…. Please….”
Like them, I also put my hope in Ira.
“I am sorry. I have no right to interfere in Mr. Donald’s decision.” said Ira gruffly, “You should get up and leave as soon as possible. Don’t wait for Mr. Donald to reprimand you. The consequences will be more severe.”
After Mr. Ira left, the three female employees looked at me in confusion.
She gripped her hair painfully and muttered, “ruined, ruined…. My career…. My success….”
“Kirk, what happened?” One of the women pulled me to her and asked.
“You bitches, you are all betraying me!” I can help but stare at them.
One of the women looked at me and said, “Kirk, we are in the same boat. Now the ship is in trouble. Do you want to watch it sink?”
“Or what?” I huffed. “This ship is beyond saving. What else can we do but jump into the sea together?”
“But…. Even if I want to die, you have to make me understand!”
Why did Donald lose his temper for no reason? Why was he accusing! I want to know!
“Kirk, what’s going on?”
“It’s her!” I gritted my teeth, thinking of the newcomer. “She talked trash in front of Mr. Donald and even exposed you!”
“I don’t understand.” The deputy director of the Planning Department shook his head. “We have no enmity with her. Why did she do that?”
“She wants to go up, so she wants to drag us down!”
“Mr. Kirk, we may have crashed, but all our men are still inside!” A hint of cruelty flashed in the eyes of the deputy director of the planning department. “Even if we are not here, someone will ‘serve’ her well!”
“Does not that seem strange to you?” Lily from HR said, “Mr. Donald does not care about this much in normal times. He’s suddenly advocating for a new employee. Who is this new employee?”
“You think too much.” The Deputy Secretary interrupted her mockingly, “Just like her, she wants to make friends with Mr. Donald. Remember, we are all good-looking. We have been waiting for so long, but she’s not qualified.”
“Yes, Mr. Donald just found an excuse to fire us!” The director surmised, “We are old and worthless. Of course he’ll have to train a new one!”
Humph! Women are the most vindictive. When I think of the miserable life ahead for this woman, I immediately feel much better.
Trista’s pov
She was carried into the elevator by Donald. Afraid of being seen later, she awkwardly said, “Put me down.”
“This elevator is just for me. Don’t worry about anything. No one will come in.” It seemed as if he could read my mind and didn’t let go of my hand.
She remained restless in his arms. Soon the elevator opened and she was carried into the office. “Let us go home after a break.”
He sat me down on the sofa and touched my hair as if comforting a child.
“Why?” I don’t understand. “The interviewer just said I could go to work today.”
“You are not in a good state now.”
“Donald, do you regret it?” “You are not planning on hiring me, are you?”
After a moment of silence, he said, “Trista, it was my fault. I was too focused on my own feelings and did not think about you being in danger.”
“What do you mean?” I immediately stood up. “Just because of that little situation just now, you don’t want me anymore?”
“Not you.” He rubbed the tip of my nose and said, “Silly girl, no matter what, I want you. I will make you my wife in my life.”
“I am talking about work! I know what you are worried about, but this kind of thing does not happen every day. Besides, Kirk got fired from you.”
“As long as there’s the slightest possibility, I am not going to let you take that chance. Kirk may not be here, but that does not mean others can not do it to you. If I am late in a situation like this now, there will be unimaginable consequences. Listen, what are you going to study? I will ask someone to help you.”
“Donald, I trely on yourself!”
“Then I’ll set up a jewelry research and development lab for you at home, okay?”
“You are putting me under house arrest!” said I angrily, “what’s the point of living like this?”
“Where are you going?” When he saw me stand up, he immediately stood in front of me and said, “Are you angry after saying something you don’t like?”
In a fit of anger, all I can say is, “It’s too stuffy in here. I am going out for some fresh air.”
“I didn’t say I would not let you stay.” He sighed, took out his phone and typed a few words. Then he said to me, “But you promise me that no matter what happens, you will tell me about it in detail.”
“Really?” I looked at him suspiciously, “As long as I agree, you’ll let me go to work?”
“Okay.”
“Okay, no problem.”
There was a knock on the door. It was the voice of Ira. “Sir, here is your business suit.”
I didn’t expect him to get ready so quickly. “These clothes…. are all mine?”
“Okay.” Donald took more than ten pieces of clothing, raised his hand to let Ira out, and then hung them one by one in the closet. “You can change them here if you want. It’s all yours.”
Looking at the large closet and elegant bedroom, I was shocked. “Do you have any special recreation here?”
“Well, before I knew you, I was rarely home.”
“What are you doing, Donald?” before I could respond, he had already removed my clothes. “I have seen it before.”
“I can do it myself.”
“Get your hands off me!”
“Don’t look! Turn your face around!” I hugged myself shyly.
“Do you still want to go to work?” He seemed like a parent, pushing and threatening, “Get your hands off me!”
When I hesitated, he took my hand off and put it on me.
He dressed very gently and quickly, as if he was afraid I might catch cold or he might hurt me. I blushed when I sensed his concern. After I changed my clothes, I said, “Then I’ll go to report.”
“HMM….”
His lips were so close, as if they were a couple who would be separated for a long time, with reluctance and attachment.
My eyes widened. I could not believe I was being kissed by him again.
He squeezed my head to prevent me from resisting. After a while, he hesitantly said, “Go to the jewelry design department.”NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
I ran out of his office as fast as I could until I entered the elevator. My face was still red.
Outside the elevator, I saw Ira. She bowed respectfully and said, “Miss Trista, please follow me. I’ll take you to the jewelry design department.”
“No, you can tell me how to go.” I don’t want anyone to see.
“Well…. Miss Trista, go straight, turn left and you will see the end.”
“Thank you.”
