Chapter 734 The Return
“Bring Anthea along. She’s pretty good at looking after kids, and she’s familiar with Sandro. If anything happens to Jasper, she’ll be able to deal with it at once.”
“That’s a great idea. It will put me at ease too,” Stella agreed happily.
“You don’t have to worry about the others. I’ll let them carry on their research at the base. There’s just one more thing. Mom is inquiring about your whereabouts persistently. She asked me why I chose to marry someone else. I didn’t dare to tell her the truth previously. I only told her that you went to study abroad. Will you come back to visit Mom with Jasper this time?” Bellamy asked.
Stella looked at Jasper and asked, “Are we going back to visit Mom this time?”
Jasper nodded, “Yes, we must.”
“Yes,” Stella answered. “We’ll go back to see Mom this time. How about tonight? We are leaving soon and we will be there by noon. I’ll go fishing by the lake and we will get to have fish soup for dinner. The fish this year should be more delicious compared to last year.”
Bellamy could not help but smile. There was warmth in his eyes as he reminisced the delicious taste of the fish soup.
It was very peculiar. Stella used to appear regularly in his dreams, but ever since Stella chose Jasper, he never dreamed of her. There were times he missed her a lot, but he could not even remember her looks.
“Alright, see you tonight then,” Bellamy hung up the phone.
Jasper stared at Stella intently. It seemed that he wanted to speak but hesitated. In the end, he said nothing.
Stella still had butterflies in her stomach by the time they packed up and left.
She hadn’t left the base for long. She was unsure whether Bellamy had told Suzi about Jasper. She also wondered how Eli and Sean were doing too.
She feared that she would not stop worrying after reaching the base. Hence, she refrained from contacting or thinking about any of them.
Sensing her concerns, Jasper held her hand and said, “I’m here.”
Stella smiled. He was probably more anxious and uneasy than her.
On the contrary, he seemed calm and steady. She couldn’t be as calm and composed as him.
“Mom will definitely be in high spirits upon seeing you and Sandro,” Stella said.
“She will be glad to see you too,” Jasper responded.
His response made Stella very happy. She leaned on his shoulder and said, “We will find Boris first. Once we resolve our problems, let’s settle down in a city we like. Every once in a while, we could enjoy a holiday on the deserted island. What do you think?”
“You wish to do something meaningful too, right?” Jasper corrected her.
Stella agreed, “We’ll do everything significant together.”
…
In the twinkling of an eye, they had arrived at the villa.
Stella began to panic again. It was an odd feeling, a mixture of excitement and anticipation.
Upon reaching the gates, Stella realized to her astonishment that the guards were all familiar faces.
“Mrs. Milton, Mr. President,” The guard addressed them with respect. He noticed that there was an unknown driver in the car and a woman carrying a child in her arms.
“He is not Mr. President. He’s Chief Milton,” Stella explained.
Jasper gave the guards a piercing stare.
Those people belonged to his Dark Shadow. Even though he hadn’t seen them for a year and a half, he could recognize them at a glance.
When they discovered that it was Jasper, they were all very thrilled.
Jasper remained calm and collected. He said in a deep voice, “Good work.”
“It’s the Chief. The Chief is back. The Chief is finally back,” The guard shouted excitedly, tears brimming his eyes.
Jasper nodded and remained indifferent. He instructed the driver, “Let’s go on.”
The car continued to advance.
Stella stifled a laugh. This was Jasper, the man she loved deeply. No matter the circumstances, he always looked strict.
After a while, the car arrived at the door of the villa.
Suzi dashed out of the door, followed by Elvis and Lynette.
Lynette’s face had undergone therapy twice. It had almost healed although there was still uneven skin tone to a certain degree. They could resolve the issue through makeup.
Jasper was the first to get out of the car.
Stella followed suit.
Next was Anthea carrying Sandro in her arms.
Suzi was very emotional and she immediately walked up to Jasper. Before she could speak, tears flowed down her cheeks, “Jasper, it’s you. It’s really you!”
Jasper stared intently at Suzi and responded, “It’s me, Mom.”
Suzi covered her mouth and wept.
“Mom, we are back,” Stella comforted.
“I know. Believe it or not, I’ve known for a long time that Bellamy isn’t you. He is your twin brother. You must be undergoing treatment currently,” Suzi said earnestly.
Stella knew that Suzi had something to tell Jasper, hence she remained quiet.
“How could I not recognize my own child? I did not expose it as I did not wish to make the situation awkward for both of you. Fortunately, you are back,” Suzi held Jasper’s face gently.
He remained composed and indifferent without showing any emotions.
Suzi, on the other hand, was as happy as a lark. This was Jasper.
She turned around and clasped Stella’s hand. “Child, how could you be so cruel, leaving just like that. I have not even heard from you ever since then. Do you know how concerned I was about you? I was afraid that Jasper was dead and you decided to follow suit.”
Stella’s eyes turned red.
She didn’t dare and couldn’t bring herself to tell them the truth. Disappearing was the best solution. At least those who cared for her would still remember her in their memories. After she knew that Jasper was alive but unconscious, she was still afraid to notify them.
After Jasper regained consciousness, she stayed by his side, yet she still didn’t say anything. She figured that she would wait until Jasper recovered completely before returning, thus she kept it a secret.
“I’m sorry, Mom,” Stella apologized.
“Silly child, how could I blame you? The most important thing is that you’re back. You must have suffered during this period,” Suzi said, her heart aching for both Stella and Jasper.
“No, Bellamy had managed the world outside well. Mom, you are the one who had it hard,” Stella replied.
“It doesn’t matter. We have reunited. It doesn’t matter at all,” Suzi responded merrily. She thought of something and her focus riveted upon Sandro.
Sandro was undergoing the teething process. His teeth felt itchy and he was busy biting his teething stick yet behaving himself. He stared with his eyes wide open, unblinkingly at Suzi.
“He’s Sandro. Sandrino Milton. He is seven months old currently. He can’t walk or speak yet, but he’s very good at crawling. Yes, a boy,” Stella explained.
“The baby who was in your belly has grown so big. That’s great. Let me give him a hug,” Suzi commented and proceed to cuddle him.
Sandro was accustomed to being hugged by different people, hence he was not shy with strangers.
He did not cry or make a fuss despite being carried away by Suzi. Instead, he continued to bite his teething stick.
Suzi had always wanted to hug her grandson. She was overjoyed to see adorable Sandro.
“Madam Suzi, it’s cold outside. Please do have a seat inside,” Lynette reminded her.
“Yes, yes, come in quickly,” Suzi urged them as she entered the room, carrying Sandro in her arms.
“Mrs. Milton,” Lynette called Stella, her eyes turning red, “We miss you so much.”
Elvis was feeling a little embarrassed. After all, he had once betrayed them and worked for Bellamy. He scratched his head and shouted, “Chief Milton. Mrs. Milton.”This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
