Chapter 48 Provocation
Seeing the faint anger in Edison's eyes, Gwenyth immediately regretted being more bark than bite. So, she said, “You don't have to take my words to heart.”
"do." "Well..." “Let's try another place.”
Was he serious? Gwenyth struggled in panic, intending to get out of his arms. But he tightly wrapped his arms around her waist, picked her up, and strode toward the second floor with long legs.
"I apologize!"
She grabbed his clothes, kicked her legs in vain, and anxiously shouted, "I take back what I just said." Edison lowered his head to glance at her, asking, “Are you afraid now?"
"Let me go!”
Edison ignored her yelling and walked straight up to the second floor. He didn't go to the bedroom but kicked open the door of the study. Then, he carried her in and pressed her on the table.
He changed the place but adopted the same posture.
Two hours later, Edison buckled his belt, sat on the couch, and lit a cigarette. While lazily puffing at it on the couch, he was staring at Gwenyth with his hawk-like eyes through the smoke.
She was paralyzed and lying motionless on the table. If she were not breathing, he would have thought she had died in orgasm. He slowly exhaled a puff of smoke and coldly asked, "Do you still think I'm fast?"
Gwenyth wanted to harshly curse him but swallowed the filthy words back
She pressed her hands on the table and slowly straightened up. But her legs were so weak that she couldn't stand steadily, so she fell to the ground. Edison stared at her without any intention of coming over to help, and the look in his eyes was frivolous.
She had said he was the fastest man to mock him. At the thought of it, he sneered, "You seem to be very experienced." Gwenyth didn't understand what he was talking about, so she just slowly sat up and straightened her skirt.
"Have you ever played with other men like this before?”
She coldly stared at him and asked, "What do you mean?”
"How many men have you slept with?"
“Asshole!” Gwenyth said through gritted teeth, got up from the ground, and staggered out
After she went back to her bedroom and locked the door from the inside, her legs were still shaking badly, and she was covered in sweat. And she fell to the ground before she could reach the bed.
She was too lazy to move, so she simply lay on the ground. Remembering Edison's beast-like behavior, she took a deep breath and realized he was treating her as a plaything.
He liked to insult, tease, and have sex with her. He knew who she was but had never mentioned the past. He was pretending not to remember her. Could time change a person? Edison was no longer the young master in her memory.
She didn't know how long she had been lying on the ground. But the sweat on her body was dry when she got up and went to the bathroom to take a shower. Then, she threw herself into the big bed. wrapped herself in the blanket. and fell into a deep sleep
At eight pm, Edison didn't see Gwenyth leave her bedroom. She should have long come out to prepare dinner. When he went to knock on the door, she did not respond. After he turned the doorknob, he found she had locked the door from inside.
Then, he fetched the key and opened the door. It was dark inside because the light was off. With the light from the corridor, he could vaguely see her curl up on the bed
He fumbled on the wall and turned the light on.
Gwenyth was wrapped in a blanket and huddling herself into a small ball like a baby in a mother's womb, looking extremely insecure. He walked over, stood by the bed, and called her. But she didn't respond. He sat on the bed, lightly patted her face, and said, "Wake up.” Gwenyth woke up but didn't open her eyes. She turned over, pulled the blanket over her head, and continued sleeping.
"Are you mad at me?"
"I'm tired. I need a good rest.”
He suddenly explained, “You provoked me first."
Thinking about it now, he admitted he had gone too far at the time.
Gwenyth ignored him, so he got up, turned off the light, and softly closed the door.
Then, he called Isaac and asked him to have dinner out.
Gwenyth had slept soundly until dawn.
She got up to prepare breakfast as usual and wiped Edison's left hand with an alcohol swab. She did whatever he asked her to do but refused to talk to him.
Edison could sense she was unhappy. so he hadn't messed with her for days.
After a week's vacation, he returned to the Yates Group and resumed his work.

She bought drawing books and pens to draw designs in her spare time.
When Edison came back from a business dinder today, he was a little drunk. Seeing Gwenyth sleeping on. the couch, he unconsciously x lightened his footsteps. After getting closet-to her, he saw a sketchbook in het arms. He stretched aut his hand, pinched the corner of the book, and slowly pulled it out.
He had thought she was casually drawing because she felt bored. Unexpectedly, the sketchbook was full of women’s clothing designs. He sat on the coffee table and carefully looked at it.
He was a little surprised to see her ladylike-style designs because he had not expected her to know how to design clothes. “Don't touch my things without my permission."
When he was stunned, she suddenly got up from the sofa and snatched the sketchbook from his hand.
Gwenyth closed it, picked up the pen on the sofa, and turned to leave. She still did not want to talk to him.
When he was busy at work, he had no time to care about her and didn't even know what she was doing at home while he was away. He stopped her, saying, "Gwenyth!"
She paused her steps on the stairs, looked back at him, and asked, "Are you hungry or thirsty?"
"Come here."
He loosened his tie and comfortably sat cross-legged on the sofa.
Gwenyth hesitated for a few seconds, walked down the stairs, quickly stood in front of him, and expressionlessly asked, “What can I do for you?” She had always been treating him like this recently.
“Your designs are not bad.”
“Thanks.”
"Since you know how to design, why don't you work as a designer?”
The question hit her pain point, so she said, "It's none of your business."
Edison hadn't expected her to be so ignorant.
The Yates Group had a leading role in the fashion industry, and its clothing brands were well-known at home and abroad. He believed Gwenyth must know he was the president of the Yates Group.
He could help her. If she wanted a job, he could easily satisfy her with a phone call "I'm seriously talking to you. Are you still throwing temper tantrums?" Gwenyth honestly replied. "My education background is too peor, so no company is willing to hire me.”Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Edison had seen her employee profile. After a careful reflection, he found her educational background indeed did not meet the standards for designers.
"Why didn't you go to college?"
