Chapter 30

Beverly Carington

What kind of crazy man he is? Flushing the most important project in history. God, he’s an idiot. I literally got out from my house and jumped into the taxi. I told the taxi driver his address and asked him to speed up.

As soon as he arrived, I jumped through the fence and ran inside. I opened the door and found no one in the house.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Clyde?” I called him and all I found is the doll that I put into his car and the notes that I gave him.

“Clyde!” I called him once again. I walked into the kitchen to find him… to the dining room… nope.

“Clyde!” I called and I heard someone locking the door. I ran out from the dining room to the living room. Clyde’s standing at the door smirking at me.

“You’re not drunk?”

“How come do you think I’m drunk?” He asked.

“Because you said you don’t know where your sketch is.”

“Oh they’re upstairs in my room.” He said and I looked at him disbelief.

“What?”

“So… what were you doing when I called you?” He asked as he sat on the sofa and holding the tuna fish doll in his arms.

“Are you nuts?” I walked to the door and tried to open it but it’s locked.

“I named him Tunayde.” He said and I looked at him disbelief. I walked to him and smacked his head.

“Give me the key, you idiot!” I bursted angrily.

“You need some explaining to do.” He said as he pulled my wrist making me sit beside him.

“Explaining what? Where’s your girlfriend? She will kill me if she knows that you’re locking me here.”

“Oh… she’s with another guy now.”

“What? She’s cheating on you?” I asked him in disbelief.

“No.”

“Huh?” I asked him and he played with the tuna fish doll.

“His name is Tunayde.”

“Clyde, are you high? Do you take drugs?” I asked.

“No.” He answered and he put the tuna fish doll in front of my eyes.

“Tunayde.”

“Tunayde? What a weird name… don’t tell me. Tuna and Clyde?” I asked and he nodded.

“Beautiful name, isn’t it?”

“Okay, did Anna dump you? You’re being weird.” I asked as I took his Tunayde away from him. He suddenly sighed and looked up to the ceiling.

“We broke up.”

“Oh… uhmm sorry.” I was speechless and don’t know what to answer to that news.

“Well don’t be sorry. We both tried to build our relationship like old times but… we can’t.” He said and I just nodded looking at Tunayde.

“She knew for quite sometimes that the one I like is you not her.” That made my body freeze.

“So you went to LA and secretly met up with my grandma and my parents?” He asked and I nodded.

“Yeah.”

“And you don’t even call me or… try to see me.”

“No… why should I?” I said as I looked at Tunayde trying to calm down my heart.

“Why should I? What kind of question is that?” He asked in a disbelief tone. I turned to him and he raised his eyebrows.

“I mean… you’re with Anna a lot at that time. Besides I bet you’re mad at me for leaving without saying goodbye.” I said but I can’t look at his eyes. Gosh… why am I so nervous?

“So tell me… are you sick? Why did Sean ask if you went to go to the doctor or not?” He asked and I shook my head.

“Beverly.”

“What? I mean… none of your business.”

“Listen, tuna girl. Everything related to you is my business.” He said and I looked at him weirdly. He took my hand and held it.

“So tell me… what’s wrong?” He asked in a soft tone and I looked away.

“Scoliosis. Becca was the one who noticed it. It’s not that bad but still I have to fix it.” I said and then looked at him again.

“Thank God, I thought something bad happened.”

“28 degrees. It’s fine.”

“I think that’s because I kept telling you to sleep on the sofa… right?” He asked and I shook my head.

“Come here.” He pulled me into a hug and my body tensed right away. He hugged me tightly and I could feel his breath on my skin. He caressed my hair and chuckled.

“I used to hate this but now I kinda like it.” He said and I’m still frozen. He released the hug and I coughed a little. I looked away and put my attention to Tunayde.

“How’s 2 months without me?” He asked suddenly and I turned to him.

“I don’t know… weird.” I said honestly.

“So you and Sean… a thing?” He asked and it made me turn to him.

“No… he just cares about me. That’s all.”

“So you hate tomatoes?” He asked and I nodded.

“What else? I hate when people know more about you than I am.” He said and I just looked at him.

“I never sleep with anyone. Doing my previous job only contains flirting, kissing… touching. I have never slept with anyone before technically… I don’t trust man very much. My dad and my mom divorced and it’s all because my dad likes another woman who is 9 years younger than my mom… My mom is 25 years old at that time and he’s 30. I was a little kid when they divorced so I didn’t know anything until I got older and older to know and understand the situation. I hate my dad… a lot but as a child I always listen to my parents. I don’t know why I keep listening to them even though I hate them.” I sighed.

“I’m jealous of you because you have a really awesome family and they’re all very sweet. It’s your family but I love them just like they’re mine. I have never been so happy before in my life until now… it’s all thanks to you but one day I felt guilty for lying and lying… and the fact that you kept going out and ignoring me all the time. I started to get lonely again. Grandma was the one who talked to me first and let me go back to New York. So… I’m sorry for leaving you without saying goodbyes. I thought you’ll be more happy if I’m not there.” I said and then I looked at him straight to his eyes.

“Tell me everything…”

“I love reading about wildlife and watching national geographic. For me… animals and every living things in this earth are very interesting. I hate eating tomatoes with other foods… I love cherry tomatoes… the small ones.” I said and he chuckled nodding.

“Other things?”

“I love tuna. Tuna is life.”

“I know that… a lot.” He smiled.

“And… I miss you, Clyde.” I said as I looked straight ito his eyes.

“Yeah… I miss you too… a lot actually.”
