She knew that she was always the topic of the other employees there because she was always seen with their boss. She just didn’t pay attention to that anymore.

She is currently standing outside the building and waiting for Clayton. He called earlier to inform her that he will go back to the office to take her home. She tried to decline his offer and said she can just go home alone but he insisted.

She looked at her and smiled even though the woman’s face seemed intimidating.

“Yes, I am. I’m Samantha,” she introduced herself to the woman and reached out her hand to her.

“Yeah, you’re known throughout the building. Don’t you know that Mr. Fierro has a fiancee?” The woman ignored her hand and she no longer smiled at her when she asked that.

“I’ve heard about that. I was informed also that they broke the engagement when his ex-fiancee went to London,” she said still trying to sound nice even she was feeling a bit uneasy now.

She lowered her hand since it looked like the woman didn’t have the willingness to shake hands with her.

She took her eyes off the woman and just turned her eyes to the road.

“Is that why you feel like you have this big hope that our boss might notice you?” the woman’s tone was sarcastic.

When she turned around again, she even saw the woman looking at her from head to toe. She was not a fighter and not used to starting a fight so she just remained her mouth closed.

“You know, girl, we don’t know what were the things you did to get close to Mr. Fierro. He is very strict and moody. Even some female employees who show motive to our boss were being ignored by him because he is still very much in love with his ex-fiancee. Did you use your body to seduce Mr. Fierro? In fairness to you, there were a lot of guys in the office who were obsessed with your body,” the woman’s words didn’t sound like praise but seemed to be insulting especially when was looking at her whole body again with a raised eyebrow.

And because she seemed to be struck by what she said about using her body to Clayton, she seemed to want to cry when she turned to the woman. She is not a combative woman. She doesn’t know how to fight back.

“From what department are you? And what’s your full name?” they were just surprised when suddenly someone spoke behind them.

Both of their eyes widened when they saw Clayton’s furious face. He was staring at the woman who now didn’t know what to say.

“Answer me!” She was also startled by the man’s stern voice. Both of them were startled again because of the anger in his voice.

“C-catherine P-perez, Sir,” the woman seemed to cry.

“From what department?” His voice was calm now but with emphasis.

“S-sales, Sir,” the formerly stubborn woman now looks like a puppy in front of them.

“Surrender your things tomorrow and clean your desk, Miss Perez,” Clayton said with no emotion now.

“B-but, Sir…” she stammered.

Clayton ignored the woman and held her hand. She even looked at the female employee when she started crying. Clayton pulled her hand so they can leave already.

“Clay…” she called.

“Don’t try to change my mind, Sam. I don’t need that kind of employee in my company,” he said not looking at her then opened the car door.

She was not able to do anything but get inside the car.

They can still see the woman who has both hands now covering her face while crying from where she was standing earlier.

“She did nothing wrong to your company. You shouldn’t have fired her,” she once tried to plead with Clayton.

She felt sorry for the woman. Silently, Clayton just started the car. She didn’t take her eyes off the employee until they get past her.

When they stopped in front of their house, Clayton was still staring at the road and did not move. She also didn’t go out of the car.

“You should learn how to fight for yourself, Sam. Don’t just accept what is thrown at you and cry on one side,” his voice was angry again and he was looking at her.

“S-she was right. I used my body. H-how can I defend myself?” She answered weakly with a bow.

Suddenly Clayton’s expression changed and he touched her face. He took a deep breath first.

“What would happen to you after our deal? Do you have plans already? I can’t keep quiet at the thought of what will happen to you when I’m no longer by your side,” he asked worriedly.

He held her face with both hands while staring at her still. She also stared back at him without blinking.

Then don’t leave me, she almost cried on her lips.

It’s as if their eyes were talking while they were staring at each other’s eyes for a while.

Eventually, Clayton pulled her nape to get her closer to him and kissed her on the lips. She responded quickly.

“I’m starving. What can we cook at your house?” smiling at his question.

She laughed softly as well. He held her hand as they walked inside their house.

He asked permission to check the contents of their fridge so he can cook something for them. She gladly said yes and excused herself to get inside her room to change clothes.

When she came out she saw that Clayton was already wearing an apron and chopping some onions.

Smiling, she went near him so she could help. She would have helped him but he just stopped her.

She just sat there watching his every move.
