Chapter 76
She took a few steps backward. Alicia did not know what she had stepped on as she stumbled. A hand then held her to prevent her from falling.
"Be careful!"
Jeremy's voice could be heard. In an instant, she seemed to be struck by lightning. She turned around suddenly and pushed him away before quickly turning back. She took a step towards Frederick.
"H-H-Hubby?"
Her lips trembled for a long time and her face was pale. She tried to speak but no words could be uttered. Her hands subconsciously wanted to tug on Frederick.
Unexpectedly, he suddenly raised his hand and slapped her hand away. "Cheap!"
Although his voice was not loud, Alicia could hear it clearly. Her tears came gushing like a waterfall. He pushed her, and the force made her stumble back a few steps. At the same time, Jeremy reached out to hold her again.
"Watch out!"
She straightened herself and shoved him away. She was anxious as she bellowed, "Go away! I don't need your help! You are so troublesome! Nothing good ever happens when I see you!"
At this moment, Carson finally understood why Frederick had acted abnormally during the game
earlier on.
He frowned and glanced at the two people in front of him, and then looked at the crying Alicia. He really could not bear to keep watching anymore.
"Why don't you chase after him?" he asked.
What's the use of crying here? Carson felt that she had really outdone herself by provoking a famously indifferent person.
Alicia came back to her senses and ran away in a hurry.
Jeremy was about to move, but Carson moved first and blocked his way. "Don't say that I did not warn you. If you try to rob from a wolf, you will die. At the very least, you will lose a layer of your skin!".
Moreover, the thing that Jeremy wanted was something right out of the wolf's mouth!
"If you don't know about him, then I strongly suggest you check out 'The Rosy Scarlett'... The accident of the Pagani supercar..."
After giving Jeremy a warning glance, Carson strode away.
At this time, he had lost sight of Alicia's figure. Jeremy had obviously returned to his senses.
The Rosy Scarlett?
He knew about it.
It was said that the story was about a Pagani sports car. There was a beautiful woman with a rose flower tattooed on her waist. Because of her beauty, a lot of rich men fought for her. All of them were rushing to buy the Pagani sports car. In the end, one man bought four of those cars and
bankrupted himself a week later. This incident was later known as the "The Rosy Scarlett". It meant that a beautiful woman could be the downfall of men.
He had heard about this incident from a friend of his. The bankrupt rich businessman brought this upon himself. He wanted to please the woman and show his charm. He was too arrogant and bought the cars which someone else wanted in order to show off his wealth. He even deliberately tried to buy two cars that that same person wanted. After a week, he lost both of the cars as well as his company. It was hot news back then.
At that time, the four sports cars with different colors were also on the news too. It was spectacular and left a deep impression on many people.
What did he mean by mentioning this?
Could it be... that the short- sighted rich businessman had bought the cars which Frederick wanted? Did Frederick take over his company just because of these two cars? However, it was said that the sports car could be bought if one was rich. Any rich man could buy it!
She was really careless. In the blink of an eye, she messed everything up.
Alicia felt that she was really miserable. She was initially there for work only.
She followed Frederick all the way home. When she entered the house, she saw that he was sitting at the bar and had already opened a bottle of red wine.
"You are not supposed to drink when you are injured..." she said.
She went forward instinctively and wanted to persuade him. But, when she opened her mouth, Frederick set the glass down with a thump. His dissatisfaction and strength broke the base of the glass. The next second, there was the sound of glass breaking. In an instant, the red wine splashed everywhere, and she was being glared at by a fierce gaze.
Alicia's shoulders shrank. She was so scared that she took two big steps backward. Her face blanched instantly, and her soft voice trembled.
"I... I'm not trying to control you. It's for your own good!" she said. Frederick got up and headed upstairs without saying a word.
Alicia was so petrified that she almost sat down on the ground.
Apart from the first time meeting him, she had never seen Frederick being so angry. His gloomy and hostile gaze was like the devil. It looked extremely terrifying!
Once again, Alicia clearly sensed a strong and dangerous aura from him. It was as if he would kill her.
She did not know why she was so afraid of him. She bit her lip. She wanted to ignore him, but she felt very uncomfortable. Her eyes subconsciously looked at the stairs.
Escaping was not the solution either! This time, it was clearly her fault! However, he had clearly gone into another girl's room as well. She did not say anything about that!
She did not know what to do. She looked at the mess on the ground and compromised. She picked up a broom. After cleaning it up, she went up the stairs.
"No matter what, I have to go up and explain. Whether he would accept it or not, it's his business. My responsibility is to make it clear to him!" she thought.
As soon as she entered the room, she did not dare to go forward. She looked at him for a long time. She only spoke when she noticed that his mood was not as bad as before.
She said, "I was only there because of work! I did not know that he was there. I did not know that... you were there too!"
Alicia was trying to test the waters. She did not dare to finish her words in one breath. When she saw that he was not angry, she continued.
"I was going to help you! But there were already a lot of people with you, and there were not enough people on the other side! I would have done the same for anyone. It was not because of him..."
When a cold gaze came, Alicia immediately pursed her lips. She was assured. "Sure enough, he was mad about this!"
She took two more steps backwards. For a long time, she did not dare to speak.
After taking his pajamas, Frederick strode into the bathroom and slammed the door shut the next
second. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Alicia felt upset. She took a deep breath and said, "If I had known it earlier, I would have just stood still!"
She did not know that it was a fight between those two men. The fight on the field or their fall did not matter. What mattered was her actions after they fell. Her reaction was the most crucial part! So what if everyone came forward to help him up?
In Frederick's heart, there was no truth or reason!
At this moment, the only truth was that the woman he had married — his woman, had betrayed him. Moreover, she had betrayed him twice in his face. Once on the field, and then in the hospital as well!
He also regarded the accidental encounter between Alicia and Jeremy at the door of the hospital ward as "she went there because of Jeremy"!
Too many of these memories flooded his mind. Frederick's mood was extremely bad! To not strangle her to death on the spot was his last bit of tolerance for her.
Fortunately, Alicia was also smart. She knew when to stop, and prevented herself from being muzzled. She knew that she had reached his limits. She only said the main points and stopped talking afterward.
After taking a shower, she got worried about how this night would pass. Suddenly, something flew in the air, and a soft pillow hit her body.
"He's not even going to let me sleep on the bed now? Have all of my previous efforts been wasted? What a miserable life!" she thought.
She knew she could not use her coquetry anymore.
She had no choice but to head towards the sofa!
