Chapter 16
"You have to be responsible for the girl since she has entrusted herself to you. Do you understand?"
Alicia was very touched when she heard Mrs. Clements defending her. In the past three years, she experienced all the warmth and coldness in the world but not many would stand up for her. On the other hand, Frederick showed no sign of defiance. He listened calmly and nodded patiently as his grandmother nagged at him.
In the end, the three of them headed downstairs together and had a wonderful breakfast.
It was a weekend and the members of the family were casually enjoying their day. After breakfast, Frederick received a phone call and went to work. Meanwhile, Alicia accompanied Mrs. Clements to go for a walk in the courtyard.
Throughout the morning, Mrs. Clements told Alicia about events from the past and Alicia would chip in occasionally. She did her best to be nice to Mrs. Clements who cared about her.
Alicia was relaxed and comfortable in the morning. Frederick was a mute even if he was around. However, she dreaded the night because she would suffer.
After shutting the door, she stood in front of the bed like a wife who was being bullied. Someone was sitting on the bed pompously and staring at her coldly.
Frederick warned, "I don't care who sent you here or what your intention is. However, never mention that word in front of Grandma ever again! Carry on with our relationship and don't try to play any tricks!"
"I didn't!"
Alicia was upset that she was being wronged. She was in low spirits and knew that things are going to work differently from then on.
After pondering about it seriously, she suggested, "It's better to divorce! If you're worried about Grandma, then we can divorce secretly. On the surface, I will give my full cooperation to take care of Grandma and I'll show up whenever you call. Is that okay?"
After all, they knew very little about each other. In fact, he was the kind of man that she detested the most- wealthy and outstanding. There was nothing holding her back, therefore she refused and even despised him subconsciously!
Her previous relationship with Jeremy Pitcher scarred her horribly. Thus, she no longer believed in fantasies about "rich man from a wealthy family" or "Prince Charming".
Three years ago, the daughter of the Blanchard family did not meet her "true love", let alone the poor girl she was at the moment.
She knew her worth!
Frederick rolled his eyes with disdain and sneered.
"Bring it up to me again after understanding and familiarizing yourself with the rules in the Clements family! Tonight, you are not allowed to touch me - not even a single strand of my hair. Otherwise, I will throw you out!"
With that, he went to bed and turned off the lights.
Alicia made a face at him. She ended up going to bed with her shoulders slouched. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
In the middle of the night, a body slipped into Frederick's arms again. He was in a daze as he was fast asleep but he enjoyed the feeling that made him feel at ease. Therefore, he held the body in his arms willingly.
The next morning, Alicia was awakened after falling out of bed.
She opened her eyes and realized that half of her was on the floor while the other half was dangling from the bed. At the same time, Frederick's pajamas were unkempt and he was gloomy all over.
"You smell awful! Don't come back in if you don't clean yourself!" Frederick criticized.
What a leech! She pressed herself on him again!
Alicia was puzzled and sniffed her hand before pouting.
"Can you stop being so picky during this special period? Aren't women like this? I didn't even complain about you! Your body is as hard as a rock and you have hair on your legs..."
Alicia mumbled to herself and got up to enter the bathroom. Frederick's face fell as he stared at his toned chest that he took pride in.
