She went to Wyatt's mansion without even having dinner.

After a whole day's work, Wyatt sat in his office as his mind drifted away. His eyes were blank as he started daydreaming. He was empty.

What a troublemaker!

Why hadn't she come to him yet? It was upsetting!

Suddenly, there was a soft knock on the door. Wyatt came back to his senses and grabbed the pen on his table before calling out, "Come in!"

"Mr. Johnson-"

The secretary came in and handed him some documents for signing before saying, "Miss Jackson called and asked whether or not you're attending the party tonight."

Wyatt paused and raised his eyes, "Party?" "There's a press conference for a new movie today. It's a comedy- action film, and Miss Jackson's the second female lead. They had been promoting it for a while now. They sent the invitations to the party out last night. Today, eight o'clock, Prosperity Hotel."

Wyatt recalled receiving the invitation and nodded, "Tell her I'm going!"

Waverly had been waiting at Wyatt's mansion till ten o'clock. She neither called nor knocked on the door. She just waited. Eventually, she left at ten o'clock.

She went to work the next day, but she stopped by the detainment facility again during her lunch break. Technically, she wasn't allowed to visit Jake at that hour, but due to his special identity, he did get a few perks here and there. So they met. This time, Jake was the astonished one. She had come just the day before, but what really shook him was her countenance. Waverly looked like she had been possessed by some ghost as her white skin was paler than usual. They seemed to have swapped roles. Waverly did all the talking the day before, and now it was Jake's turn.

"Waverly, what's wrong?"

"Nothing. Just here to see you!"

She had wanted to meet him when he finally got released, but thank goodness Wyatt wasn't home the previous night. The chilly wind cooled down her emotions and summoned her rationality. She realized that she had to give Jake a heads-up so that she wouldn't hurt him like she hurt Wyatt. She didn't want Jake to think that she was playing with him or betraying him. She didn't need a second Wyatt Johnson.

She didn't want Jake to turn into the man Wyatt had become!

Being loved by someone was the happiest thing on Earth, but being loved by two people was the most miserable!

She knew Wyatt couldn't move on from her yet, and if she was willing to compromise, Jake would be alright. But her? She didn't dare imagine what would be of her.noveldrama

Regardless, Wyatt was her trouble. She couldn't let Jake face the consequences of her actions!

They remained silent for a long, long time. However, they could still feel each other driting apart.

When the time was up, Waverly stood up and whispered, "You'll be alright-"

Jake's eyes widened. Waverly looked ready for a death battle. "What are you going to do?" Jake wanted to ask.

He opened his mouth, but no words followed.

The staff was already escorting Waverly out. However, she suddenly halted again.

"I won't come to see you again. In fact, I'll never see you again!"

Waverly took another deep breath.

"Jake, we were never destined to be. Do yourself a favor and forget me! I can only share your joys, but I can't go through your hardships with you. I'm not worth your time, Jake! I'm sorry!"

Waverly left the moment she finished her sentence.

As the iron door closed, Jake screamed, "Waverly, no! Waverly, don't be stupid!

Waverly, I won't let you go, I won't forget you, I won't—"

Waverly covered her ears as she ran out of the facility.

When Waverly got back to her office, her dark eyes were slightly red. She wasn't

in the mood to work anymore. She opened the news website to check up on

Jake's case, but someone else had made the headlines.

Was that Wyatt and...that lady from the casino?

Was she a celebrity? Fair skin, long legs, she must be very popular!

Waverly scrolled down and the website was filled with the couple's pictures. Pictures of them at the press conference, at a hotel, at a club, at a restaurant. They seemed so intimate, so perfect for each other!

The corner of Waverly's lips twitched as she read the news. It seemed like the people still remembered her!

Ridiculous.

She knew no one was there to compliment her. The title made it clear enough. They were probably going to dig up her entire black history again!

Waverly still couldn't stop herself from clicking into a few of the news, though.

That woman was gifted, skillful, young, and beautiful, and she even graduated with a double degree. She came from a pretty decent family and she didn't even have any rumors or black history! She was doing pretty well in the entertainment industry!

Even the Johnson family claimed to be "satisfied" with her. Waverly suddenly recalled how the Johnsons rejected her while she was still close with Wyatt!

She hadn't even officially dated Wyatt. They just shared an intimate relationship. Even so, she had heard the Johnson family's calls of complaint to Wyatt more than a few times!

Her heart ached. Waverly would be lying if she said that she wasn't

bitter or upset. If it weren't for Wyatt's ex, if it weren't for all of those external forces tearing them apart, she probably wouldn't have had to cut ties with that man!

Were they dating?

The heavens saw her as a joke, didn't they? Her miserable life amused them, didn't it? She had left Wyatt because she didn't want to be labeled a "mistress", yet now, for the man she loved, she was going to return to Wyatt and take up the role she had always loathed.
