Chapter 25 Mr. Gilbert
Chapter 25 Mr. Gilbert
When Anton Williams returned to the Ghost nightclub, he found everyone was there. Hundreds of
people here made it noisy. Anton came to the middle and shouted, “Everyone goes back and then has
a rest! It’s over today!” After hearing Anton’s words, the crowd hesitated for a moment and then walked
outside. But Albert Davis and Patrick Clarke did not leave.
Albert came to Anton and said, “Anton, how is Jasper now?”
“Anton shook his head and said, “He is not so good, not going through the dangerous period!” Albert
bowed down and said, “Anton, I think what you have told me, so I suspect a person of being black
sheep!”
Anton raised his eyebrows and said, “Who?” Albert looked around to make sure no one was here, and
then whispered, “Lydia!”
“Why are you saying that?”
“Anton, I thought about it thoroughly. Our members in the confraternity are in union so they don't betray
us. In other words, they even don’t have the chance to betray us. As everyone was together and no
one was ever left at all at that time, the one who had the most suspicion was Lydia. She had enough
time to drop a dime to Sickle Gang after we had left the Ghost nightclub. But I am still wondering why
she did so.”
Anton found his analysis plausible. He nodded and said, “Don't talk about it until there's sufficient
evidence. By the way, where's Carl?”
“He went out to get money and inquire about the news, “Albert answered.
Anton got it and walked into a single room, lying on the sofa. He closed his eyes thinking about what he
should do next. Albert and Patrick did not disturb Anton, waiting quietly outside. In the evening, they
were still there. With a pocket back, Carl Ford came back and asked them, “Is Anton back?”
Patrick nodded, pointed to the single room, and said, “He is back, and stay inside!” Carl walked over
and knocked on the door. “Come in!” The voice of Anton Williams came from inside. Carl heard and
pushed the door in.
“Anton, everything you asked me to do has been done. This is 12,750 euro.” With that, Carl put the
paper pocket on the table, and took a note out of the coat pocket, and said, “This is the address of the
Chief's home.”
Anton looked at the watch and found that it was almost seven o'clock in the evening. He stood up, took
the money and the note, and said to Carl, “I'll go to the chief's home and find a way to release Bruce
White and other ten brothers first. You and other people stay here. Without my permission, no one is
allowed to get revenge for the Sickle Gang”
Carl nodded his head and said to Anton, “Anton, Let me go with you!”
“No, you're not going. It's no use talking about this with more people. said Anton, shaking his head.
After that, Anton walked out and did what he had just thought step by step. The Sickle Gang will pay for
their mistakes with blood sooner or later.”
According to the address on the note, Anton quickly found the residential area of the chief's home.
Known as the bureau building in J City, the area is where city leaders or rich men live. Anton came to
the door of the Chief's home and rang the doorbell. A woman was asking from inside, “Who?”
Anton tried to keep his voice down and said, “Excuse me, I'm looking for Mr. Gilbert!”
The woman inside asked, “Is there anything you want from him?”
“I have some things that need to be dealt with by Mr. Gilbert. It's urgent!
The woman inside knew what he meant immediately. He was probably coming to give gifts. It
happened every day. Without asking for more details, she opened the door and said, “Then come in!”
Anton looked at the woman who opened the door. She was in her forties and dressed up very
gracefully. He nodded politely and said, “Good evening, Madame!”
The woman hesitated for a little while, not expecting the man was so young and comely. She viewed
him as a polite person and said, “Young man, come in, don't stand outside.”
Anton took off his shoes and walked into the hall, saw no one in the hall, asked, “Madame, is Mr.
Gilbert not home?”
“Yes, He is in the bathroom, and he will be out in a minute. You can sit here and wait for a while.” the
woman said. Anton thanked her and then sat on the sofa. The woman poured a cup of tea for him on
the table.
Later, a middle-aged man in his forties, sparsely-haired, but still spiritual, emerged from the bathroom.
Seeing Anton, he turned to ask the woman, “Stella, who is he?”
The woman laughed, “He is waiting for you. Since he is young, you should help him as possible as you
can.” Obviously, Anton left a good impression on the woman, who was trying to help him out. Mr.
Gilbert understood it, sitting opposite Anton and then asked, “Young man, what are you asking for? Tell
me some detailed information!”
Anton hesitated for a moment, with his eyes fluttering over the woman, without speaking. Mr. Gilbert is
reasonable, so he said to the woman, “Stella, you can go to watch TV inside. I'll talk to this lad about
something!”
The woman seemed not happy, but still went back inside and shut the door. After seeing his wife had
gone, Mr. Gilbert leaned on the sofa and said, “Now you can tell the words you want!”
Anton also cut to the chase, “Mr. Gilbert, you must have already known the fighting in God nightclub
last night.”
Mr. Gilbert slightly flummoxed down, and asked, “You are here for this?” Anton nodded and said, “I
hope Mr. Gilbert can release all the people that were caught in God nightclub and convict them not
guilty!”
Mr. Gilbert said, “I think you overestimate my ability. I’m sorry. I can't help you much on this matter!”
“I know you can, or I'll find someone else, “said Anton. With that, he took out the paper pocket from his
arms and poured the money on the table. Mr. Gilbert was startled, not expecting that this young man
would bring so much money. Mr. Gilbert, with his eyes glowed, stared at a wad of hundreds of euros on
the table and became a little penetrable. But once considering the situation in the bureau and the
impact of God nightclub event, he restrained his greed back, shook his head, and said, “I'm sorry. I
can't help you with this. Please go back!” After that, Mr. Gilbert stood up and tried to go back inside.”
“Is there really not any room for reconsideration?”
“I really can't help with this. Besides, it's still time for cracking down on criminals. Your friend sailed
close to the wind. What bad luck for him!”
“How many years will my friend be sentenced in prison?” Asked Anton, with his gazes becoming colder.
Mr. Gilbert thought about it and said, “Tell you the truth. Your friend has no chance of going to jail. If
that's right, he will be sentenced to death!” Anton was surprised and said, “It's impossible! He was just
fighting with others. How could he be sentenced to death?” NôvelDrama.Org © content.
“It's not just fighting, but your friend also committed crimes of robberies and serious injuries and so on,
“Mr. Gibert said with a sigh, “He will be sentenced to life imprisonment even in normal days, let alone
during the crackdown period. You don't understand what crackdown is all about.”
Anton rubbed temple way, “I do not understand, so I came to for your assistance. I hope tomorrow I can
see my friend back safely!”
Mr. Gilbert was not pleased to hear what Anton had said, “I have told you that I can't help with this
matter. Take your money and go out!”
Anton did not move, sneering, “Mr. Gilbert has not given me a satisfactory answer yet! If you promise to
help me, you will have the money and there will be more beneficial for you in the future. If you don't say
yes, I will feel you despise me. I will take this €12,712 to go out and find the killer for you immediately!
Just wait! I never play a joke with someone who is not my friend.” Anton stared at Gilbert coldly.
'He's not scaring me!' Mr. Gilbert shivered, feeling Anton’s cold eyes, which seemed not to be human’s.
Mr. Gilbert was really frightened. So he sat back and said, “It's really hard for me to do this. Well, I am
under the supervision of municipal leaders and a few deputy chiefs have an eye on me. “
“It's your business to deal with it, “said Anton, stone-faced. “I don't care about it. I want to see my friend
back tomorrow!”
Mr. Gilbert did not speak. He took a cigarette from his pocket and smoked it silently. He is blowing hot
and cold about considering it.
Anton also did not rush him, sitting on the sofa waiting for Gilbert to make a decision. Time passing by,
the square room was so dull that there was no sound. Mr. Gilbert smoked five cigarettes in a row and
choked the last cigarette butt out. He had a decision in mind, looking at Anton, and said, “You can go
now! I take the money.”After that, he closed his eyes on the sofa and remained silent.
Anton only said thank you, and then turned away.
After leaving Mr. Gilbert's home, Anton just grew out of a breath, with his back wet by sweat. In fact, he
had no idea about whether the Chief would agree. Things were still going well, so he felt relaxed. He
knew that Bruce White would be fine. He also prayed for Jasper Smith. Anton came back to Ghost
nightclub by car, feeling a little dizzy. He was so tired that he wanted to have a rest. But he couldn’t
because there were still too many things to be solved awaiting him.
After Anton was back to the nightclub, Carl ran over and asked, “How about Bruce?” Carl had a feeling
of guilt. ‘if it was not for his recklessness of following what Albert had said, Jasper Smith and Bruce
White and dozens of fellows would be fine.’
Anton restrained the feeling of dizziness, whispering, “Don't worry, Bruce will be fine!” Carl saw Anton
looked painful, hurriedly asking, “Anton, are you OK? Your body....” Anton interrupted him, laughing,
“Don't worry. I'm OK!”
Carl still looked at Anton worriedly. Anton said, “Carl Ford, these days we will be very busy. It seems
there will be a lot of things on you.”
Carl said, “Anton, look what you say. This is what I should do. What do you want me to do?”
Anton mused for a moment and said, “First, tomorrow you are going to buy me a phone.” Then he
paused. “Well, buy more, and distribute them to our main members, so that everyone can connect
conveniently. Second, Lam Longman has had a deal, so we can get the goods in the next few days. I'm
going to let him firstly deliver them to the No.1 High School, the school which the police generally don't
suspect.” Say, Anton turned his head to Patrick and said, “Patrick, this matter is on you. The goods are
to your command.” Patrick nodded.
Anton suddenly paused, with the cold light in his eyes. Then he said, “Third, find out all about Sickle
Gang, including its leader, members, gathering places, time for regular activities, and so on. I want it
crystal clear. Carl, this is for you. I will make them pay for what they have done doubly! And let other
families around see the consequences of annoying us!”
Carl found confidence from Anton's words, speaking loudly, “Don't worry. That counts on me!”
Anton nodded and said, “Lydia isn’t here today, is she?”
Carl shook his head, wondering why Anton mentioned Lydia. Carl did not participate in the
conversation between Anton and Albert, so he had no idea of their suspicion of Lydia. Understanding
Carl’s doubt, Albert explained, “Carl, we suspect Lydia is the one who betrays us!”
Carl thought but still did not figure out why. Anton smiled and said, “This can't be known to others, or
otherwise it will be difficult to do if Lydia knows.” Carl nodded.
“Well, everyone has been tired all day. Go home and have a good rest. If there's no accident, Bruce will
be back tomorrow!” said Anton.
Carl and the other two felt happy. Anton said goodbye to them and took the bus home. Just when he
opened the door to enter he house, he gave a sharp blow of the head, ‘how can I forget her!’ Anton
brought a person from Lam’s place. There were so many things today. He forgot the little girl totally.
Shaking his head, Anton looked at the door and sighed. He walked out of the apartment, and then take
the car to Joy Billiards Hall.
There were still a few brothers in the billiard room and didn't go home. Anton walked in and asked, “Is
the little girl I brought in OK?”
A brother said, “She's fine, Anton. When you just left, she started sleeping until now.” Anton responded
and walked inside, gently opening the door. The little girl was still sleeping. Wearing a slight smile,
Anton thought, ‘what a little child who should fall asleep in a strange place.’
Anton walked to the bed, and thought, ‘I can't leave the little girl in the Joy Billiards Hall herself, but
where can I bring her at night?’ Anton nudged her. “Wake up!”
(Let me say a few words about crack-down. What is the crackdown? It is to crack down on crime.
During the crackdown, criminals will be sentenced heavily.
For example, when a nationwide crackdown is underway, the province gives J City a target, during this
crackdown, J City must solve 100 major cases and 100 people must be sentenced to death.
But all police in J City go out and do their best to catch only 99 such criminals. The municipal city has
not completed the provincial goal, what should they do? It’s easy! They will choose one substitute who
is from a poor family without any means to go out. He is just the 100th. Then, the city can complete the
task from the province successfully. )
