Alpha’s Regret Pregnant Rejected Luna

Chapter 42

Chapter 42

Minutes later as they drove out back towards the office, Ethan’s phone vibrated, causing an annoyed

grunt from him as he reached for it.

“Bella,” he answered, his voice softening.

“Hey, honey,” she replied sweetly. “You remember Mr. Houston’s exhibition, right? It’s happening

tomorrow night. He’s someone I want to do business with, and we should both. attend, please.” she

requested hopefully.

Ethan sighed. He disliked events like that, but as a prominent and influential figure, he often attended

them. Tomorrow night, however, he was in no mood to be around other wealthy socialites. The thought

of socializing was unappealing.

“My schedule is packed for tomorrow night. I’m sorry,” he explained.

Bella let out a disappointed laugh on the other end of the line. “I’m really getting used to this,” she said,

sounding sad.

Hearing the disappointment in her voice, Ethan’s tone softened. “I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you,” he

promised.

But Bella didn’t seem satisfied. She fumed around her office, upset by Ethan’s frequent absences.

“Fine then. I won’t attend as well,” she said before hanging up.

Bella hoped to connect with the prominent Houston family, and having Ethan by her side would make it

easier. Now, however, her entire mood was spoiled.

Axel, who was driving, asked, “Should I summon the workers back to continue the briefing?” Ethan,

focused on his own thoughts, replied, “There’ll be no need for that. Inform the design team about the

changes. We’ll slow down on innovations and reduce the workload. on the interior team for now, at

least temporarily.”

After pulling into the company’s driveway, Axel left Ethan to retire to his office, where he sank heavily

into his chair. He wasn’t in the mood for a presentation. The image of the little girl, Daisy, lingered in his

mind, and a part of him still longed to be by her side, to hold her and protect her. However, it was

completely out of place for him to act on such impulses. As he delved into his workload, Ethan’s

patience grew thin. He needed to know if Dr. Gomez had been located

yet.

“Found him yet?” he asked Axel moments later, his voice filled with impatience. Axel reported, “Not yet,

boss.” Dr. Gomez wasn’t just a skilled doctor; he was also a prominent shareholder in multiple

companies and held an appointment by the president. Locating someone of his stature, especially after

his retirement, was proving to be a challenging task. Still, Ethan was determined to move mountains to

ensure little Daisy received her surgery and could live a normal childhood.

After hours of tireless effort. Axel walked back into Ethan’s office with promising news. “Dr. Gomez is

back in the country. He will be attending the Houston’s exhibition tomorrow night, he informed.

Ethan pondered this new information. The same exhibition that his wife had just invited him to attend,

Today had been another day filled with worry, especially regarding Daisy. Now, as I gazed at

her while she slept, she seemed peaceful and calin.

I couldn’t help but appreciate the transformation that had occurred in the room after Ethan’s departure.

It was like stepping into a different world. A refrigerator had been brought in, the curtains replaced with

brighter ones, and toys and plushies were now sc a t t e r e d around the room.As if that wasn’t enough

while I was still taking in the huge changes Ethan’s thoughtfulness hadn’t stopped there; he even

arranged for a comfortable bed to be wheeled into the room. It was as if he had gone above and

beyond to make this place perfect for Daisy.

As I took in these remarkable changes, one of the workers asked if we needed anything else. I couldn’t

help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude. “No, everything’s perfect. Thank assured them.

you,” I

The room had transformed into an adorable, cozy space. While it had looked luxurious before, it now

had a child-friendly atmosphere. This was a stark contrast to the typical sterile and unhappy hospital

wards Daisy had been in. The sweet scent of roses filled the air, courtesy of a humidifier that had

replaced the usual overpowering smell of drugs and antiseptics.

The Director himself came to check on Daisy, ensuring we had everything we needed.

I contemplated how these changes could truly benefit us. With the extra bed, Liam could stay over

sometimes, Summer was closing in anyway and with the break Liam would be happy to spend most

time here with his sister. Imagining that made me chuckle. “Thank you so much, Ethan,’ I whispered,

appreciating the comfort and luxury he had brought to this room. We could sit in here and pretend like

we were on holiday in a high-end hotel.

Recalling the moment I first saw Ethan with those people, I was initially stunned, my breath catching in

my throat. Then he had swiftly taken control, practically insisting on moving us to this room. Mixed

feelings overwhelmed me; the situation was overwhelming, but it was also undeniably good. When he

looked at Daisy, I could see the deep emotion in his eyes. was clear that he felt a connection to the

twins. It was this connection that drove his actions,

My gaze returned to my daughter’s peaceful face, and I whispered, “Your life would have been so much

easier with your father present, right, baby?” Tears welled up, and I couldn’t hold them back. They were

still Ethan’s children, and the thought of losing them was unbearable.

Let’s be selfish for now Daisy and take whatever kindness Ethan gave. The truth couldn’t be hidden

forever, I knew that but I couldn’t imagine loosing my kids. If Ethan found out their paternity, I was sure

he wouldn’t hesitate to demand custody. I could tell it from the loving gaze at Daisy. If it wasn’t

confirmed before I left, if we hadn’t manipulated the results to come out negative, Ethan would have

marched over and demanded for his kids by now. Ethan felt a connection to her.

Dove’s gentle question broke through my thoughts, “And what about you, Hazel?”

I-replied, “What about me?” Ethan and I were history. If the truth were to come out one day, we would

find a way to navigate it and co-parent. It was a plan that seemed feasible, at least for now.

Daisy continued to slumber peacefully, and I knew I needed to retrieve Liam and some essential items

from home. As I stepped out of Daisy’s room, I noticed what looked like a receptionist at a nearby table.

I’ll be stepping out for a while,” I informed her

“Okay, Just go do whatever you need to. She’s in good care, ma’am, the lady encouraged

with a warm smile. I genuinely felt better, knowing that they were diligently watching over and

monitoring Daisy.

Right VVIP.” I muttered to myself.

Thank you again Ethan.

Arriving at the school, I found him seated outside near the slides, munching on snacks. The area was

nearly deserted, and it seemed he had been well taken care of. An open tablet was playing a show,

and he was engrossed in his snacks.

“Hey, honey, I called out.

Liam looked up and immediately ran toward me. A familiar young woman joined him.

“Oh, you’re here finally,” she said, looking relieved.

“I’m so… I began to apologize, but she interrupted.

“It’s fine, ma’am. We understand completely. And we’re glad it wasn’t serious,” she said gently. I was

moved by her kindness and consideration.

“Thank you for taking such good care of Liam and for the snacks too,” I thanked her wholeheartedly,

his snack wrappers and tossed them in the Tiny Tots had turned out to be a great choice; the staff here

truly cared for the children in their charge. The woman’s words made me feel less guilty about the time

I had wasted. After answering all of Liam’s questions about his sister, I headed back home to gather

essential items. The ward already had a functional wardrobe for clothes and other belongings. I began

by running a bath for Liam and then proceeded to pack two duffel bags-one for Liam and the other for

Daisy. My personal belongings were few and packed in between.

Luckily, tomorrow was a Friday, and Ethan had given me permission to be absent event before I asked.

With the packing done, we headed downstairs and left for the hospital.

Liam stood outside the door to Daisy’s new ward, a curious expression on his face.

“Mom?” he questioned, his frown deepening.

“Come on in. Daisy’s here,” I assured him.

He glanced around and then broke into a smile. “I like it here,” he said.

I couldn’t help but return his smile; Liam had never been fond of hospitals. He scrunched his nose and

sniffed the air. “And it smells really nice too,” he added, beaming at me.

He reached out to hold Daisy’s sleeping hand. “Hi, Daisy”

Liam’s eyes then widened with excitement as he noticed the TV. He hopped over to it and asked,

“Woah! Mom, look! Turn it on, please?”

“Okay, but we’ll keep it turned really low, okay? I agreed.

He eagerly nodded, and the TV came to life, already tuned to a kids’ channel. I recalled how Ethan had

meticulously checked through kids’ channels in his suit to ensure they were all available so Daisy

wouldn’t get bored. Liam settled on the sofa in front of the TV and insisted he wasn’t hungry yet. I

glanced around, realizing I hadn’t seen my phone in hours. I had been consumed by the events of the

day. When I finally located my phone, I noticed over ten missed calls, the majority from Chloe and the

others. It seemed the briefing had likely been rescheduled to a different date.

As I relaxed into the couch next to Liam, I returned Chloe’s call. Daisy had been completely knocked

out by the medications and still hadn’t woken up. The friendly nurse assured me,

“She’ll wake up tomorrow as strong as a fiddle.”

As night fell. Liam and I strolled to the hospital’s shopping mart, located a few feet away from the

hospital. We purchased some foodstuffs and then returned to the ward.

I loaded the items into the refrigerator, appreciating another aspect of the room that Ethan had made

more comfortable. A sinile crossed my face, thinking about all the Ethan had made a difference in Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
