Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

KNIGHT

“Can I borrow the journal? I promise to take care of this and return it to you once I finish reading.”

“If you can take it out of the house, sure.” Dylan picked up the photo on the floor. “You can take this with you, too.”

“Thanks.” Nirvana sipped her lemonade.

“No problem. I’m glad I met you. Your grandfather, all he ever wanted was to protect you from this, our world; that’s why he never told you about this, not that you know about us; at least you never see us differently.”

“I’m glad I found you. If you encounter more trouble around here, feel free to come to the Blackwell Vineyards. You have a place there, Dylan. And I’d like to know more about you.” I felt the sincerity in her voice, and Dylan seemed a good guy.

“I’d love that.”

“We can’t stay longer,” I told Dylan.

He showed me the photo and video of the man running towards the bus. That man wasn’t himself. If this incident escalated, both worlds would create chaos and panic.

“Let me guess. The reason why you are here has something to do with what’s going on.” Dylan bounced his gaze between us.

“Something like that. I want you to stay away from the street.” Nirvana held Dylan’s arm. “I’ll give you my number. Call me if things get worse. I’ll arrange something to take you out from here.”

“I gave him my number.”

“Yeah. Will do that,” Dylan said.

“We have to go. Kailin arranged our flights, and it’s leaving in less than two hours.”

Nirvana hugged Dylan. “Take care.”

I would be growling if I didn’t know he was her distant cousin. Even if I was aware, my wolf was still possessive.

Our flight back home wasn’t supposed to be this exhausting, and business class seats should be comfortable, but Nirvana was right about what was going on out there. Cyrius started spreading chaos and fear, and Ambrose had no luck defeating him. And that made me on edge.

Nirvana dozed off when we were halfway to California. McKaye and Luka volunteered to pick us up from the airport.

My mind went back to the blood dagger I saw in the journal. We had a theory that this could help kill Cyrius, but why had Ambrose not done this before? What was I missing here?

My gaze landed on sleeping Nirvana. The woman possessed the power and strength of a thousand wolves. It was overwhelming and frightening at the same time.

Shit.

I squeezed my eyes shut when reality hit me. Fuck. Nirvana was the missing piece.

I swallowed hard. It was unsettling knowing my mate was the only way to defeat this son of a bitch.

My stomach did a nosedive. I had a strong feeling that Nirvana could be killed in this fight against this ancient warlock.

I tried to shut my eyes closed when I sniffed a werewolf scent in the air. No. Werewolves. I scanned around. I found a man in his thirties wearing a leather jacket with a wolf head tattoo on the back of his hand. He quickly looked away when he realized I was looking at him.

I nudged up Nirvana. “Sweetheart, wake up.”

“Did we arrive?” She rubbed her sleepy eyes.

“Not yet.” I pulled her closed so I could kiss her on the lips and whispered, “We’re not alone, but don’t panic.”

“What do you mean?” she said to our link.

“I smelled two werewolves in this area. There could be more in the economy, and I don’t believe in coincidence.”

“Me too.” Her brows knitted together. “What’s the plan?”

“Since we only have hand luggage, we will get in the bathroom together once we land. Then you can teleport us outside the airport.

“I think I can do it to the vineyards?”

“Are you sure?” I searched for the doubts in her eyes, but I didn’t find any.

“Yeah,” she said confidently. “I can do it.”

“Okay. Don’t let my hand go.”

She nodded as she looked around, tipping her chin to the front seat. “Yeah. The other guy is over there.”

An hour later, we landed. The passengers started leaving. I grabbed our duffel and took Nirvana’s hand.

“I’m nervous.” At least she admitted it, and I could hear her heartbeat racing.

“Relax. It’s gonna be okay. They wouldn’t do something in the crowd. My guess is there’s a vehicle waiting outside.”

“You’re right.” She breathed deeply and moved forward to get in line towards the exit.

The two werewolves were a few passengers away, but they still thought we hadn’t made them. Once we exited the airplane, I grabbed Nirvana’s hand tightly as we sprinted towards the restroom.

“Change of plan,” I told her through our link. “I can’t come with you in the ladies room. We go to the exit and let McKaye and Luka block them. Once we get in the SUV, you portal us, and those assholes think we were still in there.”

“Excellent plan.”

We passed by throngs of people, and I saw them through the mirror, still following us. I sensed McKaye and Luka. They were closer.

“Guys, I need you to create a diversion. I think we’ve been followed since Portland. Two guys in a leather jacket and parkas.”

“Got it, Alpha,” McKaye said.

“I’m seeing them right now,” Luka responded. “Our transport is parked at the left, second row.”

“See you soon.”

“What the fuck, man?” I heard McKaye.

“Look where you’re going, moron,” said the man, probably the parkas.

“Are you okay?” I asked Nirvana when she went silent.

“Yeah.” She was breathless and terrified. “I guess I should get used to being chased by bad guys.”

“We’re closed.” We rushed towards the parking lot.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

“Over there.” She instantly recognized the black SUV.

I looked around, sniffed the parking lot, and made sure no one followed us.

Nirvana looked at her necklace, blinking red. “Stop.” She pulled my hand. “Something is in the SUV. Don’t get in there.”

“Shit.” A part of me was terrified for Nirvana to get hurt. If I was only alone, I could handle those guys easily, but she was critical to the plan, and she was my mate. “What the fuck is going on?”

“You better tell the guys not to get in that SUV.” She didn’t let go of my hand, and I followed her wherever she dragged me. She took me to another SUV and hid behind it. “Can you see if there’s someone inside? I can’t hear heartbeats or breathing.”

“It’s empty. I think they are trying to lure us out here.” I linked the guys. “Don’t get in the SUV. I think there’s a bomb inside. You better call security to check it.”

“Thank you, Alpha. How about you, guys?”

“Don’t think about us. See you at the vineyards.”

Nirvana held my hand. “Wrap around me.”

I did as she said and closed my eyes. “Don’t let go of me. Wherever it takes us, at least we are together.”

“You talk a lot, but you’re mute in bed.”

I chuckled as I looked down at her. “You want me to talk dirty in bed?”

“Just kidding. I think you’re hot, and sleeping with you is the best decision I’ve had in a while. I enjoy it very much.” I thought she was trying to divert her attention because her heart and nerves had never calmed down.

“I know.” I was hiding behind the SUV. In just a blink, I was in the living room of my house.

I looked around to ensure I was in the right place, but Kailin was standing, her brows meeting.

“That was fast. How did you get in here without me noticing? Portal?”

“I missed you, too, K.” Nirvana hugged her tightly.

“Ouch. You’re stronger, and ew, you smell him.” Her eyes grew big as her gaze landed on Nirvana’s neck, and she instantly saw my mark. “Oh, my Goddess! You finally did it! You popped your cherry.”

“Shut up.” Nirvana’s face turned red. “You’re embarrassing me.”

Kailin laughed so hard before she did a curtsy. “Welcome home, Luna.”

I shook my head in amusement. “You should tell your brother we arrived home safe.”

“Right. So, should I knock or call you guys before I get in the house?” Her smile was meaningful.

“You probably should.”

“Very well. Congratulations to both of you.” She came to hug me. “I’m proud of you, Knight. Alpha. When is the celebration?”

“I’m afraid we have to hold it for a while. We have a pressing matter at hand.”

“Oh, come on. If it’s an end-of-the-world problem, we should enjoy the lives we have left. It won’t be too extravagant-just the pack and our friends.”

“Very well. We’ll do it in two days.”

“In two days?” Nirvana’s eyes widened.

“Yes, Nirvana. You have to train. We’re running out of time.”
