Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

NIRVANA

I didn’t realize I was sensitive to silver, just like werewolves, until today. I could feel my body giving out. I shivered when my skin was so cold while my inside seemed boiling like molten lava.

The cage didn’t help either. It was sickening. It smelled like rotten animals. The longer I stayed there, the more horrible the smell became.

The cave must be spell-protected. I couldn’t reach Zarah to ask for help, and my necklace was useless.

Knight was also in pain. Despite how hard he tried to hide the pain inflicted with silver, I still felt it. We shared a bond, and we shared thoughts in the first place.

I tried to block him, but somehow, he became my anchor, my hope, and he was the only thing that gave me a reason to stay strong and keep my mind sane. If it wasn’t for him, keep telling me not to expose my ability. I’d already fought these werewolves to protect us.

At the back of my mind, I was so full of myself, thinking I had mastered my gift. Instead, I put my alpha in danger and had already jeopardized my entire pack because I wanted to prove something. I was stupid and reckless.

At least, I learned something today before they decided to skew us and show what they would do to their uninvited guests.

Then footsteps approached. I knew it was the alpha. I could sense the authority in the thuds of his steps. Then, more footsteps. He didn’t come alone.

“Open the gate. Let them out,” the alpha ordered his men.

I didn’t have the strength to look up, but I heard the iron door creak.

“Sweetheart, let me carry you.” Knight wanted to scoop me up, but I refused. No matter how weak I was, I couldn’t show them this cage affected me. I’d prefer they know less about me. It was for the better if it would save my alpha.

“I’m fine. I can walk.”

He helped me up but didn’t let my hand go. He shielded me from these men. Once we finally left the cage, I closed my eyes and breathed the chilly air deeply into my lungs.

As moments passed, I regained a little energy, and so did Knight.

“What are you gonna do to us?”

“Follow me,” the alpha said. “I’m Alpha Frye Hammonds. As you can see, we don’t get too many visitors, especially uninvited ones. We must first check your identity if you’re telling the truth.” He led us to the house. It was big, with a contemporary setting from the outside.

“I understand. I would do the same thing. I apologize for the trouble. We’re just lost.”

“Luna Shadow vouched for both of you. I’m more a friend than Alpha King’s allies. So when he called you by your first name, I realized you were telling the truth. Let’s get you both warm.”

“Thank you.” We stepped inside the cozy house, and I felt the warmth.

“I apologize, Alpha. I was following orders and had terrible experiences with people pretending to be lost but with bad intentions. I hope you can forgive me.” His bulky head of enforcers provided me with a thick blanket. “I’m Thomas.”

“Thank you.

“That’s unnecessary, Thomas. Besides, we’re the ones who trespassed your territory.” Knight wrapped the blanket around me as we settled on the couch. Alpha Frye and Thomas joined us in the living room.

“So you two are newly mated?”

“Yes. That’s why we are staying in the cabin,” Knight said as he took the steaming hot cup from the woman who brought us a tray of hot tea and cookies. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

“Shadow stayed there for weeks while I trained her.”

“Trained her?” I asked him inquisitively.

“When she lost her ability and her wolf, she became human. With their enemies two steps ahead of them, she wanted to be helpful and not a burden. I taught her basic self-defense and shooting, and she became a good sniper.”

“Thank you.” I smiled at the woman who offered me a cup of steaming tea.

“I’m Evelyn. His sister.”

“Nirvana.” I shook the hand she offered.

She gasped the moment our hands touched. As if she was burned, she pulled her hand quickly, staring at me with wide eyes. “You’re not human.”

Alpha Frye was quickly on his feet, alarmed, stance in full alpha mode, protecting his sister from me.

Knight and I shared a look before I spoke. “I’m sorry. I mean no harm.”

Knight came to my defense. Before things got ugly quickly, I put the cup on the table and raised my hand.

“What are you?” Alpha Frye’s voice was stern, and men walked in, crowding in the living room.

“We will tell you if your men leave us,” said Knight. “I need a little privacy if that’s okay.”

“Out.” One word, Alpha Frye’s men left.

“If you wanna know what I am, I need your assurance that you won’t tell anyone.”

“You can trust my sister. She just found her ability two years ago. Evelyn has a gift to see someone’s true nature by touching them.”

“I don’t mean to frighten you,” I told Evelyn as I grabbed the cup and sipped the tea. “I came from a long line of ancient werewolf and Sybil.”

“As in the seer?” He stared at me.

“Yes.” I nodded at Alpha Frye.

“But she was cursed before she was even born. So, she was human until recently,” Knight explained in a less complicated way.

“What happened?”

“After discovering your existence because my grandfather chose to raise me like every other human. Then apparently, Knight is my mate. So I went with him to California. Zarah has a theory that to break the curse done by an ancient, powerful warlock, maybe a true love kiss could break it.”

“But she died instead.”

“Goddess.” Evelyn gasped. Alpha Frye didn’t even blink.

“My soul hadn’t crossed just yet. My great-great-grandfather, whom I thought was dead, brought me back from the dead. He put a mark on me after I was born, something like a shield, but it was gone when I came back. Then I got a different gift. I’m not a seer, but something is inside me that I haven’t been able to control.”

“The reason why we ended up here in your own backyard,” Knight added.

“What exactly is inside you?”

“It’s nothing like I’ve ever seen before, Frye. It’s powerful and volatile if in summoning mode,” said Evelyn.

“To bring me back, my grandfather had to trade my soul in the spirit world literally.”

“A good and powerful one. It’s a warrior, isn’t it?”

“Yes.” I stared at Evelyn in surprise. “How do you know?”

“I feel the fighting spirit, literally. And my family had an old book about myths.” She looked at Frye as if asking for permission.

“Follow us.” Alpha Frye gestured. “We’ll talk in the library. Zarah put a spell on it so no one could eavesdrop while we were inside.”

We followed him to his study. It was small but filled with old books, and the smell of dust and molds hit my nostrils.

“I apologize for the clutter. I’m terrible at finding things organized.” He chuckled. “Have a seat.”

“You have a pretty awesome collection,” said Knight as he wandered his eyes around.

“Old habits die hard. And yeah, these are rare collections of ancient books, mostly not written in English. While I can’t read most of these books, Evelyn can. She studied at the university, and she can read different languages. Anyway,” He searched for stuck books in the corner. “Here.”

“Dated back fifteenth century.” Evelyn took the old book from Alpha Frye and opened the pages, carefully not damaging it. “It translates as a woman who possessed the ultimate power and strength of a thousand wolves. Her power comes from within and will defeat the undefeatable evil.”

How would I do that when I couldn’t even control myself from teleporting?

“Was there written how to control the power?” Knight asked while I had a million questions.

“During ancient times, people worshiped you when you have power like this. It said that she would be worshiped by many who believed and followed her. It doesn’t mean worshiping like God. Nowadays, worshiping someone is idolizing celebrities, actors, and people they believe make a difference. This book was translated from Sumerian. Could be lost in translation.” She closed the book.

“Maybe there’s another book that can help us deal with a power like hers.”

“I’ll do some digging,” Alpha Frye said to Knight.

“To answer your question, Alpha Knight, it said nothing. It was a long text but translated short in English. To control power and gain control of what’s inside you, you should stop questioning your worthiness and start believing in yourself. You could have easily destroyed that cave.”

When Evelyn stared at me, I felt like she wanted to say something.

“Can I use your bathroom?”

“Of course. Come with me.”

Knight gripped my hand before I followed Evelyn out of the study. She brought me to the back of the house.

“You read something you didn’t want them to hear, did you?”

“Does Alpha Knight know that you might not survive fighting against as powerful a monster as Cyrius?”
