Accidentally Married

Branch One Hundred and Forty One

“You want to impress me? Why would you want to do that?” Jessica asked.

She was flustered but was trying her best to keep her cool. The warm water from the tap helped stabilize her body temperature. she wanted to jump around and squeal but she could not do it in front of him.

“I don’t know, maybe to win your favor. We started on the wrong foot” Xavier said.

He was trying his very best to steady his breathing. He wanted to win her favor so badly. It was not like her favor would help him win contracts or have more money but he wanted to always feel comfortable with her.

The thought of the divorce scared him so greatly but he was the one who suggested it. She had told him previously that she was not bothered about divorce. What if he was the only one feeling this way about the situation? Why if she accept whatever the situation would be?

“You have my favor then” she smiled as she turned to face him.

“Oh the aroma is so lovely,” Roselle said.

Her words broke the staring competition between them. Roselle pursed her lips together as she turned around. “What did I come in here for?” she mumbled as she hit herself in the air.

She wanted to comment on the tightness in the air and the loving gaze she just experienced between both parties. One would think that since Jessica had been in a romantic relationship she would know this thing but she was just as hopeless as Xavier who had never been in one.

“Young Lady, you can go on in, I will clean up here,” she said when she noticed how uncomfortable they both became.

“You know I like cleaning up after myself. Clean up is a part of the cooking process” she said and Roselle nodded in agreement. “Xavier you can go rest now, I will deliver the brownies to you once they are ready” she added facing him.

He nodded and rushed off the soap from his hand under the tap before cleaning it dry with the napkin. “I better resume back my work,” he said walking to where he dropped his juice.

“It’s no longer cold” he murmured as he sipped and walked away from the kitchen.

Roselle walked up to Jessica to assist her. Jessica has shaped down all the dishes and all that was left was to rinse them completely with water.

“I think the young Master fancies you a great deal,” Roselle said.

“Why would you say that?” she asked her as she rinsed the plates under the tap.

“Well he rarely comes in here but since you made this place your headquarters he has come in here so much I think he is beginning to love the kitchen”

“I don’t think it’s because of me” she murmured.

“I’ve been alive a long while now. I knew Xavier’s father when he was just fifteen years of age” she said as she turned to face her.

“This means I know love when I see one and I greatly believe one is brewing between you two”

“Why did you call me here?” Burke asked as he took a seat in the coffee shop in front of Emma.

She had sent a message to him telling him that she had important news. He was skeptical about coming until she mentioned the baby.

When she told him that she was pregnant he was ready to take responsibility for the baby but she had demanded a very high-priced wedding which he could not afford.

Although he was trying his best to ensure that he gave her what she wanted so the baby did not have to grow up in a broken home.

He had never known his parents so he decided a while ago that if he happened to have a family he would ensure that the child grew up in a lovingly home.

He had always thought for sure that Emma loved him but the recent events indicate to him that the only thing she loved was being in a cat race with Jessica who was unaware that she was in it.

“It’s been a while. I thought you would call” she told him silently.

“How could I have called? Your last words to me were pretty insulting and a huge bruise to my pride as a man” he told her before taking a sip from the drink in front of him.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“I thought you loved me and would chase after me but it turned out I was nothing to you after all,” she said.

This time her head was raised and she smiled bitterly. “I know you might not want to get back again so that is why I arranged this meeting to talk with you”

“That’s why I came so I can hear what you have to say,” he told her taking a sip again.

“Since as would not be getting married, I want to terminate the pregnancy. I would book an appointment and do it the right way” she told him.

She had made up her mind as regards the issue. If she was not going to be married to him, the child would bog her down and she might not be able to see a man who would marry her and lift her out of the shackles of poverty.

“What? Why would you make a decision like this all by yourself when it concerns us both?” he asked shocked. Of all the things his mind ran around thinking she might say this was not a part of it. How can she be so ruthless and take it so far? Why did she think of doing that?

“If it is because you are afraid of how to raise it I will make sure to pay my part in making the child comfortable,” he said.

“How can I bear your child when we are not together?” she asked shaking her head.

“Does it matter if we are together or not? This is a child, a person how can you think of taking the life?” he asked feeling his blood rise.

He wanted to have a mature conversation but it seemed like they might not be able to. If her reason for an abortion was because they were not together then there was no way he would be able to reason with her.

“I have made my decision. I just thought to let you know since you are the father”
