A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 99 A Date

“Mr. Stuart, is that Miss Bowman? Are you going to pick her up?” The driver asked, but at the same time couldn’t see Brendon’s expression.

“Is he Miss Bowman’s boyfriend? He looks quite handsome!”

Brendon felt like his heart was stabbed with a knife.

“He’s not her boyfriend!” Brendon retorted. “She has someone else.”

“Wow! Miss Bowman really has a boyfriend! But of course, she’s so pretty!” The driver didn’t understand what Brendon was hiding and finished speaking before realizing that Brendon had a cold expression on his face. He immediately shut up.

Ranita had rested at the hotel last night and hadn’t slept well. She felt restless all over and even went for a bath in the middle of the night because she was uncomfortable.

Without her phone, Ranita could only use the hotel landline to call Dylan and ask him to come pick her up so they could go drink tea with Eve at a teahouse.

“Eve wanted to go there before but we couldn’t book a private room. Let’s fulfill her wish this time,” Dylan reached out to support Ranita as he spoke, “You really should have called me when you lost your phone last night. I could have picked you up and taken you home!”

Last night at Boulderland Mansion, Ranita hadn’t mentioned a word about what had happened. As for Chris and Steve, Ranita believed they wouldn’t ask too many questions either.

She felt a strong sense of guilt. If she intervened between Brendon and Shannon, she would be considered a mistress, even though it wasn’t her intention. But she had become entangled in the situation.

Just then, the familiar Bentley pulled up in front of her, and the car window rolled down, revealing Brendon’s expression. “Ranita, let’s talk.”

“Mr. Stuart, there’s nothing for us to talk about!” Ranita responded, and Dylan, even more nervous than her, chimed in, “Brendon, what do you want? I warn you, you’re constantly bothering Ranita, but she’s not interested in you!”This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Mr. Stuart, Dylan speaks candidly. I hope you don’t mind,” Ranita pushed Dylan gently and continued, “We have another appointment, so we won’t disturb you, Mr. Stuart.”

Ranita got into Dylan’s car, leaving Brendon stunned.

Brendon suppressed his anger and took a while to calm down. Ranita had rejected him again! And it was because she wanted to go on a date with Dylan?!

“Mr. Stuart… where are we going now? Back to the office?”

“Let’s go back.” So, Brendon, the boss of Stuart’s Corp, arrived at the office earlier than usual and had already dealt with most of his work before his secretary even started working, scaring everyone in the secretary’s department.

Ranita had a happy dim sum breakfast with Dylan and Eve before sending Eve off to the airport.

Eve really didn’t want to leave. She said, “Dylan, while I’m gone, if Ranita loses a single hair, you’re the one I’ll hold responsible!”

Ranita smiled warmly and hugged Eve. “Don’t scare Dylan like that! I’m a mature adult now. I’ll take care of myself.”

Ranita didn’t mention what happened last night but not returning home directly definitely had reasons behind it. However, clever as she was, Eve didn’t ask about it either – not because she didn’t want to but because she didn’t have time for anything that wouldn’t help her.

“Okay! See you when I get back!”

The first thing Ranita did when she returned to Stuart’s Corp was find Brendon, “Mr. Stuart… my phone is still at Boulderland Mansion. Can you return it to me?”

“Weren’t there no more conversations between us?” Brendon looked up at her coldly.

Ranita wasn’t too insistent on this matter either. Her phone was just important in her bag but fortunately she backed everything up so buying another phone wasn’t difficult. As for other things like lipstick or small hair clips they weren’t worth much anyway.

“Well then… I’ll give it to you,” Ranita turned around and left without looking back.
