Chapter 64 Holly is Sick
“Dylan…” Ranita’s voice was soft, and she extended her hand toward him. “I want some lemon candy.”
Dylan had known Ranita for a long time, but it was rare for her to make such requests.
“I’ll go buy some right away,” Dylan hurried out and returned within ten minutes, clutching various packages of lemon candy.
Ranita nonchalantly unwrapped one, but the flavor was different.
“Who caused trouble earlier? Was it Shannon?”
“No, it was Holly…” Ranita recounted the situation, and Dylan’s face contorted in anger. “Is she out of her mind? You’ve already divorced Brendon; why is she clinging to you like this?”
“I’m going to find Brendon!”
Dylan stormed off in fury, but Ranita quickly stopped him. “Don’t act impulsively! Finding Brendon won’t help.”
He had never truly been on her side before.
“But…” Dylan hesitated, a self-blame lacing his sigh. “It’s my fault for not having enough influence. Otherwise, I’d definitely take care of Brendon.”
The Webster family, comparable to the Stuart family in Kurima, had a strong hold in the city. Yet, even with Dylan’s blood ties to the Websters, he still had to tread carefully around them, unable to measure up to the Stuarts in terms of influence.
If it were Chris…
But no, Dylan couldn’t ask for his help, even if he did, Chris had a close relationship with Brendon, so why would he assist Ranita?
“This isn’t your fault!” Ranita stated, lips pressed together.
“What’s your plan now?”
“I’m a bit lost at the moment,” Ranita replied, her brows furrowing as she looked down. “The worst-case scenario is the studio might not keep me on.”
Dylan couldn’t help but feel relieved when he heard that.
“You’re right! With Holly in the picture, the studio has changed drastically! It might be better not to deal with it. I’ll help you start something new!”
“You have a strong reputation in the industry and won’t have trouble finding projects,” Dylan continued. “Remember, your professor has always wanted to recommend you for translation work, and you’ve been wanting to do it since school, but got sidetracked…”
There was no need to mention who had sidetracked her.
“It probably won’t work out. You know my situation,” Ranita reminded him, causing Dylan to realize his mistake. “Right! I was being silly.”
“But if you stay in Kurima, Brendon will eventually find out… or what if you leave Kurima for another city? You haven’t been back home in Steland for many years. How about…”
Ranita shook her head. “Let’s decide on that later. If I return home, it might not be there.”
“Alright, then. Let’s focus on what we can do now!” After a brief pause, Dylan hesitated before saying, “Have you heard about Shannon’s welcome party at Boulderland Mansion?”Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“I heard…” Ranita had married Brendon without a proper wedding ceremony, while Shannon returned and organized a lavish welcome party at Boulderland Mansion. The contrast was stark.
Taking a deep breath, Ranita forced a smile. “Don’t worry about me. Brendon and I are no longer together.”
Fortunately, Olivia returned with lunch at that moment. After she’d done eating, Caleb called, urging her to send over some materials.
Ranita had been preoccupied with various matters in recent days. Although she had made significant progress, she still had some loose ends to tie up. Glancing at the time, she bid farewell to Dylan, who left, and then buried herself in her work.
After a grueling two to three hours, Ranita finally completed her task and sent the final product to Caleb. She was exhausted, her brain throbbing from the effort.
Just then, she received a picture message from Holly, captioned with a taunting message: “Have you seen this? My brother and Shannon are choosing engagement rings!”
Ranita viewed the message and had to admit that Dylan was right – Holly truly had issues.
