Chapter 21 Seven Weeks Pregnant
Ranita woke up to see the snow-white ceiling and Dylan’s tired face. “Dylan… where am I?” Ranita asked groggily, her voice hoarse and a bit confused.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
“Ranita, are you awake? This is the hospital!” Dylan took her to see the doctor, and after an examination, the doctor reported that everything was fine. It was only then that Dylan put on a stern face and pretended to be angry, saying, “You fool! The doctor said you fainted due to excessive fatigue!”
“You’re working for Brendon, there’s no need to neglect your health like this!”
“I’m sorry,” Ranita didn’t want to cause trouble for anyone, but she felt guilty about always causing trouble for Dylan.
“What good is it apologizing? It’s your own body. If you don’t take care of yourself, what can I do?” Dylan scolded her but then gently brought a bowl of warm porridge over, “Eat some.”
Ranita remembered how kind Dylan was being towards her.
“Thank you, Dylan.”
“Don’t be polite with me!” Although he blushed when she thanked him so much, his mouth didn’t let up, “Hurry up and eat. You won’t die from illness; you’ll starve yourself instead.”
Dylan made Ranita laugh as she ate a big bowl of porridge without hesitation.
Dylan packed up her things and suddenly pulled out a report from a drawer, his expression serious as he handed it to her. He pursed his lips and said, “Ranita, you’re going to be a mother!”
It caught her off guard completely.
“Huh?” Ranita looked at him blankly.
“See for yourself,” He handed over the report which clearly stated under results column – “Early pregnancy 7 weeks”.
She was pregnant?
Ranita counted backwards carefully; it must have happened before Wyatt died when she became pregnant. But how could this happen when they were using contraception all along?! Even if they weren’t divorced yet, having children wasn’t an option right now!
“What do you plan to do?” Dylan, aware of her situation, didn’t directly persuade her to keep the child but instead hoped that Ranita could make her own decision.
“Forget it,” She lay down on bed feeling hopeless. She threw away the report aside saying, “His child shouldn’t be inside my belly.”
“Hush now,” Quickly grabbing pillow and putting it on her stomach, Dylan pretended like an innocent kid, “Don’t say things like that. The baby will hear!”
“Baby, just now your mommy spoke nonsense! Don’t listen, okay?” Dylan leaned in close to her belly, playfully offering comfort.
Ranita couldn’t help but laugh again.
“Dylan, you’re silly! A 7-week-old embryo hasn’t even developed hearing yet so there’s no way it can hear anything.”
Ranita’s heart ached, but she was painfully aware that the chances of keeping this child were very low.
She could raise the child if she chose to, but there were those who wouldn’t allow the child to become an obstacle between Brendon and Shannon, causing heartache.
Moreover, in the unfortunate event that Brendon decided to fight her for the child after its birth, her chances of winning were almost nonexistent.
“Ranita, the doctor says it’s strong. Although it’s just a small embryo now, it will become an especially cute child in the future – a vibrant life. I hope you think carefully before making a decision. I don’t want you to regret it later.”
“No matter what decision you make, I’ll support you!” Dylan said with a clear laugh. “Anyway, we can afford it!”
Ranita was persuaded.
Ranita didn’t sleep much in the second half of the night. After knowing that there was a baby in her belly, she became sensitive and occasionally felt another heartbeat – thinking that this was Brendon and her child made her feel even more reluctant.
Brendon was handsome; if the baby took after its father, it’ll be an adorable kid.
Ranita thought about it over and over again: she divorced Brendon and left the Stuart family; opportunities to meet the Stuart family were not very frequent in the future. As long as they kept quiet about it well enough, perhaps she could keep this baby.
