Chapter 35
Chapter 35
Out of the blue, a motorcycle pulled up right in front of Cynthia. Off stepped Samuel, his skin glowing in the streetlight and looking untamed. He walked over to her, looking like he was ready for round two.
Cynthia was on edge, her hands automatically tightening into fists, preparing for whatever was coming next.
But Samuel threw a curveball. He went down on his knees, hands clasped together like he was praying. “Boss, I’m on your team from now on,” he said, looking up at her. In his world, he wasn’t used to getting knocked down like she did to him, and now he respected her big time.
Cynthia jumped back, totally not expecting that.
Samuel stayed on his knees, scooting closer, sincerity in his raspy voice. “I’m serious here. You’re the first to ever take me down. I’ll have your back. You got something that needs doing on the down–low, you just let me know.”
Cynthia kinda felt bad. She hadn’t exactly fought a fair fight; she’d gone right for his pressure points. If not for that, she might not have won against his raw power. She didn’t want to hurt his feelings or challenge him again, especially if he got mad–she might not get so lucky next time, so she kept mum. “Look, I just needed the cash. I got what I came for, and I’m out. You stay here and keep your crown.” She was hoping he’d just let this loyalty thing go. She had plans that might take her out of Auroran for good once she got her mom’s company shares back and ditched her hubby Liam. She didn’t need complicated ties there.
But Samuel was stubborn. “Since you knocked me off my throne, I can’t go back. I need to follow you!
Cynthia realized she’d sorta turned his world upside down. Dudes like him could be trouble if they didn’t have somewhere to channel their energy. So, she laid it out for him. “Okay, you can tag along. But two rules: keep it legal, and get a decent job until I get all my stuff sorted. Then we’ll talk.”
“It’s a deal.”
Cynthia put her number in Samuel’s phone and waited for the call to go through. “Call if you need something.”
Samuel was all smiles, stoked with the whole situation.
It was late, and they’d both ditched their masks, getting a good look at each other.
“You into motorcycles?” Samuel asked out of nowhere.
Cynthia caught his meaning but shook her head. “No worries, I’ll grab a taxi up the road.”
But Samuel stood in her way. “It’s not cool for you to be out here alone at night. You can ride mine.”
“How about you then?” This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
Samuel flashed a cheeky smile. “Boss, don’t forget–I know this town like the back of my hand.”
Cynthia, realizing it’d be silly to argue given the late hour and she needed to pick Liam up tomorrow morning, just gave in. “Alright, thanks,” she said.
With Cynthia gone, Samuel walked back to a hidden spot where a sleek Rolls–Royce was parked under a large tree. He headed straight for it.
“Is it done?” the man in the backseat asked, reclining and staring off in the direction Cynthia had disappeared.
“Yes, boss,” Samuel said, giving a nod of respect. “She’s letting me stick with her. She took off on my motorcycle.”
“Good job,” came the cool, authoritative reply from the man.
“What’s my next move?” asked Samuel.
“Just keep close, make sure she’s safe,” the man ordered.
Samuel acknowledged the instruction with a nod.
The black Rolls–Royce cruised off, the mysterious man inside closing his eyes to rest, the mole by his eye somehow making him look even more intriguing.
Liam’s plane touched down early. The airport was packed, and even though he could’ve used the VIP exit, he was eager to see her. He strode through the terminal, his tailored suit making his fit build even more impressive. His icy vibe kept people at a distance. Some onlookers couldn’t help but approach him, only to be frozen in their tracks by his chilling aura. He circled the exit until he spotted her. “Cynthia,” he called.
She turned at the sound of his voice and lit up with a smile.
Liam closed the distance quickly and hugged her tight, his broad shoulders enveloping her.
Cynthia blushed and hid her face in his chest, breathing in his clean scent.
They held each other close, ignoring everything else. Ziv with a load of luggage glanced away. Ever since they had gotten married, public displays of affection were routine.
Liam and Cynthia headed home to the Regalian Garden. It was early, so he led her straight to the bedroom.
Winnie, the servant with a dessert tray, saw where this was headed and wisely U–turned to the kitchen.
Cynthia was all flushed.

ce they were inside, Liam pressed her against the door. He showered her with kisses, sending her heart racing. ight off guard, Cynthia clung to his neck to keep steady. The force of his affection left her breathless and unable to anything but respond. They moved from the door to the bed, shedding clothes along the way.
