Chapter 152: Wretched King

Elias opened the door to one of the many bedrooms, walking in and seeing no indication of people.

He rushed to the next, Leon did the same checking the king's chambers first and then ones close by.

Men on the floors below took care of the rest of the guards and searched any other rooms.

One of Leon's soldiers came running to the two.

He seemed out of breath but he had something to speak of.

Soldier: "Your Highness, we have some news.!"

Leon: "Did you find the king.?"

Soldier: "I'm sorry your highness we've searched every room below and haven't located him. We did

find a human man and woman within the dungeon."

Elias: "Were there names Dawson and Jessica..?"

Soldier: "Yes, we've told them that you are here."

Elias: "Your highness, should we head there now, it doesn't seem like we'll find the king here, we've

search all the rooms on this floor.?"

Leon: "You go and retrieve them, I'm going to go see how the soldiers are fairing."

The two left each other.

Elias ran down the halls and stairs following the soldier to the dungeon.

Elias and the men continued till they reached the cell.

The other soldier already had the door open and the two lovers were standing outside the cell.

They heard the sound of footsteps and looked in Elias' direction.

The two called out his name and they rushed to one another.

Jessica: "Elias your here.!"

Dawson: "We heard from these men that you and the demon king are here to take down the king.?"

Elias: "Yes, but what happened, why are you two in the dungeon..?"

The group started walking down, on their way out of the dungeon.

Dawson: "After we parted, we went back here and they seemed to believe we didn't have any part in

what happened to Pete, but a few days ago some guards came and locked us up here.."

Elias: "The king of Latis must have known we were about to invade, so he wanted you guys out the

way. I'm at least glad you guys are safe and sound. We'll get you some new cloths and food after

things settle down here."

They reached the courtyard and continued to where Leon was.

Jessica: "So Elias, how is the demon king and his daughter fairing.?"

Elias: "The demon king is fine, you'll see him in a moment, his daughter is just as well... There he is.."

-Leon's POV-

I stood near where the throne room was, the courtyard insight.

I could see Elias and his two friends walking to my men and me.

The girl, Jessica spoke and slightly bowed, my eyes watched the movements.

Jessica: "I'm glad to see you're doing well your highness.."

Leon: "Well it's all thanks to you healing me."

Dawson: "We just heard from Elias that your daughter is in good health too.."

Leon: "Yes, she is, though without Elias tending to her during her recovery, she might not have faired

as well as I did."

I looked at Elias, we shared eye contact for a brief moment, I didn't want to speak more on the subject

at that time.

Elias: "Has any good news arrived or is the king still on the loose.?"

Leon: "Yes and no, my men were able to get some info from one of those magicians, it seems the king

had an escape route out the castle planned. My men are searching for him now. So we should just..."

One of my soldiers came running in, he bowed and spoke loud grabbing our attention.

Soldier: "Your highness, the king of Latis has been located, he was seen escaping out a secret exit just

as the magician said. Soldiers are taking care of his guards now. Do you wish to wait for them to bring

him to you or would you like to go obtain him.?"

I stepped over to him and spoke.

Leon: "Bring him to me, don't make me wait too long.."

Soldier: "Yes, your highness."

It didn't take long for the soldiers to take care of the king's royal guard.

They came in unison, two soldiers holding the king by his arms.

King of Latis: "Unhand me, you devils. You have no right to touch me."

Our eyes locked and a glare of anger appeared on his smug face.

King of Latis: "Demon King I see you're still a monster, and I'm guessing since you have to rely on the

summoned misfits for support, your power must've wained since you were attacked."

I was going to slap him, but Elias went ahead and did it for me.

He clenched his fist afterward and backed away.

Elias: "I don't care if you have anything bad to say about me, but you don't have the right to speak to

I looked at him and closed my eyes, I slowly walked my way to the king, though I spoke as I did so.

Leon: "Thank you Elias for that, but his words mean absolutely nothing to me at this point."

I turned to the king. My hand pulled his hair making sure his face was in view.

Leon: "Oh, the wretched King of Latis, I remember how unruly and annoying you were as a teenager,

and look at you now still acting like a child. If only you grew up to be open-minded like your father. Then

maybe you wouldn't have to be dethroned today.."
