It’s Not Defense
“Nothing and absolutely everything. You see, I only love your daughter and she is the reason I came here in the first place but I am also willing to help you greatly if only you can help me convince your daughter to get married to me since you do not view her as a game in your corporate and office politics” I said stressing the last part so he can understand where I am heading to.
“Do not worry about my company. Let us just sign this deal and get over with this. I am good with you having a 45% share of my company” Mr. Thornton said to me when he noticed I was not ready to give in to his demands
“I do not want a 45% deal, I want your daughter” I said to him sternly.
He look frightened at first but he summoned more courage before he spoke to me.
“My daughter is not a property she is a human being for christ sake” he said to me trying to match my tone only that age had limited him from being able to do certain things he would love to do
“I know but I will suggest that you also pay attention to the remaining clause in my offer” I said to him feeling truly powerful for the first time in a long while.
“What is the other clause in the deal?” he asked me looking truly afraid
“If you insist on not helping me convince your daughter about my genuine intentions towards her, you will leave me with no option than to assume that you are only being greedy and offer you the best treat I offer to greedy folks” I said to him.
Mr. Thorntons POV
I must have been Stark insane to look down on this man the first day he came to my office. I took all he said with a grain of salt but after seeing what he is capable of in terms of finance, I should not have belittled him. But I still have to fight for my daughter.
“I am not a greedy person and you know it too well” I said to him trying to convince him for the umpteenth time to leave my daughter out of our business deal
“You are, because if after all I did for you and all I am promising to do for you, you still insist on being so stubborn, then you are truly greedy” Alexander said to me.
I kept silent when I noticed I have no reasonable answer to give to him again. But is it bad that I want to keep my daughter out of this? Sarah must not hear of this. She will be so devastated.
“Before you consider your next move. I want to inform you that my company will be taking a legal action against you pertaining using some dubious means to transfer over $1 billion to your company through some hackers and one more thing, do not bother yourself how I hope to get all these evidence just be rest assured that when I am done with you, you will rot in jail while your company will be reduced to a heap.” He threatened and now I believe that I have indeed made a deal with none other than the devil.
“You cannot do that to me, Mr. Pierce” I replied, weighing the full implications of all these charges against me.
“This is exactly what I will do to you. I have told you all you need to do because right now, the ball is in your court and you can choose to play it the way you want.” He said to me standing up from his seat.
“You have 72 hours or you will face my full wrath, Mr. Thornton” He said before leaving my office
I was covered with sweat as everything came rushing down on me. What should I do? There is only one person I could call in this situation.
I felt ashamed that I had to call him but he was my last option if I ever hoped to navigate this situation. My lawyer is the last person I wanted to call but he is the only person I could call in such a situation. I could remember the warning he gave me the last time I called him. I neglected his advice because I saw no need to heed to it.
He warned me but I chose not to listen and I might be forced to pay dearly for it. He was my only Redemption, I knew it but I was reluctant to give him a call because I do not know how he will handle such a situation. I had to believe that he would act as professionally as possible.
I sluggishly picked up my phone scrolling through my contact in search of his contact. Right there, I saw his name staring at me but I was still hesitant to click on the dial buttonThis is from NôvelDrama.Org.
I eventually clicked “dial” because that was my only choice. I heard the phone ringing. I could not wait for him to pick up the call
I was doubting if he would respond. I was about to hang up the call when he picked up the call.
“Hello, Mr. Thornton” he said to me
“Good evening, how are you doing?” I asked him trying to reduce the building tension I was feeling
“I am great. To what do I owe this call from the CEO of Thornton construction?” he asked me
“I have a problem and I believe that you are the only one that can help me solve it” I said to him
“Okay, what exactly is the problem?” He asked me, feeling concerned when he noticed I was serious about it.
“It is about the deal I told you about with Mr. Alexander pierce” I said to him
“I knew that it will not go down well. I knew something was too suspicious with that deal” he said to me
“I knew but maybe I was not just smart enough to detect it on time” I said to him
“So what exactly is the problem?” he asked me
