The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage

Chapter 2264

Jada Turin smiled as she worked. "You're too nice for your own good, Ms. Ingram. I'd punish Ms. Wal if I were you." Alda shook her head. "She's rotten, and that's why I'm not going to behave like her. That would tarnish my virtue!" Someone entered just as she finished, calling out to Jada, "Ms. Turin, I need your signature."

Jada turned to see that it was Aron Hampton, her former assistant who had graduated from a famous university. While he was young, he was bad with people, though Jada kept him protected since he was competent.

It was therefore surprising to see the usually proud Aron hanging his head, though it was to hide his swollen face.

"Who did you insult this time, Mr. Hampton? Who dares beat up an honored graduate from a prestigious university?" Jada teased.

While he was an employee, Aron did not find it necessary to keep his head down. Even when it was Jada, who inspired fear among the other employees, he retorted without qualms, "What's it to you?"noveldrama

Jada was grinning instead of flipping out. "Come on, I was just joking! Now tell me who's so short-sighted that they'd hurt someone so important as you? Tell me, and I'll help you get payback!"

Aron shook his head. "Can you? Really?"

Jada appeared annoyed at that. "Are you trying to insult me? I'm telling you, there's no one I fear!"

"Fine!" Aron snapped back. "I got into a fight with some thugs who were collecting protection money, but I lost. I'll do anything you say if you can straighten them out!"

"I'm not that interested in you. I just can't stand the behavior of certain people!" Jada shook her head and turned to Frank. "Mr. Frankton, I'll be out for a while, but I'll be back soon."

Frank nodded—with the spiritron vein's blessing, Jada was indeed strong enough to fear no one.

And just half an hour later, Jada was back with Aron, who appeared a lot less prideful, even regarding Jada worshipfully.

"It's done?" Frank said without even looking Jada's way, though it would be surprising if she could not handle a group of thugs.

"Yes, but there's something fishy about them... Leave us, Aron."

"Come on, Ms. Turin!" Aron protested. "You haven't agreed to take me as an apprentice!"

Alda and Sylvie smiled but said nothing-the brat had snapped at Jada just earlier but was now utterly respectful?

So people could really change!

"Out!" Jada snapped, glowering.

Terrified, Aron promptly fled there was no helping it, because his hopes for Jada's guidance would go up in smoke otherwise.

Jada then turned back to Frank.

"Those thugs were saying that they

didn't actually want protection

et

money. After all, it's not all that profitable, now that the times have changed, and they might face jail

time. People like them would just stick to menial jobs like being

bouncers, work that basically carries

zero risk.

"That way, they would have their employer's protection, and they naturally have to be smart enough not to get into fights over a few hundred grand.

"Anyway, they're now doing it

anyway because a daredevil has

come to town. He's ruthless, forcing them to do to do it anyway even if it does

more harm than good... and rumor has it that he could crush a man to death beneath his foot."

Frank certainly understood what Jada was getting at. "Look into him. He might be after the spiritron vein."

"Don't worry, I already did," Jada

replied. "But that's in the old town, and searching that place would be difficult since it was never

developed. We're not a major city afterall, and there are no cameras there. You have to wait patiently."

Frank smiled. "Don't worry, I have all the patience I need... And by the way, have you investigated Jouri further?"

"Jouri Yelin?" Alda frowned. "Are you suggesting that she has something to do with this?"
