The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 82

Chapter 82

The Suit Gallery wrapped up the making of these three shirts on a Friday, and Cordelia, reluctant to bid

farewell to Brooklyn, took the shirts home.

She hadn't seen Ronan for several days.

As a low-level employee, it was difficult to see the CEO.

Ronan sat on the sofa, scrutinizing her with interest and a hint of anger.

"Back already?" Ronan asked her. "Where are the shirts you bought?"

Cordelia took out the shirts from her canvas bag.

One look, and Ronan knew that these were custom-made from Dubai. She hadn’t even changed the

packaging, a clear sign of her feelings for him.

"You've put on weight." Ronan remarked while looking at Cordelia's chubby face.

She had regained the weight she lost when she was sick.

"What?!" Cordelia immediately touched her face, exclaiming in panic. "I put on weight? How's that

possible?"

Ronan snickered. "Why wouldn't it be? You're always gobbling down junk food."

"What?!" If she knew she would gain weight, she wouldn’t have eaten so much. The food outside was

more to her taste, while Janice's cooking was too bland.

"Did you finish reading that book?" Ronan narrowed his eyes and asked Cordelia again.

"Book? What book?" Cordelia blinked, thinking that he couldn’t possibly know about the book Jamie

wrote. Could he? Was he just messing with her?

"It's the book on financial cost management."

Cordelia heaved a sigh of relief, so he wasn't talking about The CPA Success Blueprint. She replied. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

"It's a textbook; it's impossible to finish it so quickly. It takes time."

Ronan smirked; he could see the guilty look on Cordelia's face.

"Oh, by the way, do you want to try on the shirts I bought for you?" Cordelia said as she took out the

three shirts from a fancy bag.

"How much did each cost?" Ronan asked.

Cordelia held up two fingers.

"Two thousand?"

Cordelia didn't answer and just smiled smugly.

Ronan was familiar with this brand; he used to order custom-made shirts from Dubai, each costing

seven to eight thousand dollars. He figured that frugal Cordelia wouldn't have bought them.

Ronan casually tossed the shirts aside. He was disappointed and somewhat angry.

He went to his bedroom and started reading. After her shower, Cordelia saw Ronan's cold demeanor

and felt uneasy.

Sometimes, silence was scarier than an outburst.

"What's wrong?" Cordelia approached Ronan, gently touching his arm.

"Leave me alone!" Ronan's voice was very low, but the tension in the air still frightened Cordelia.

Cordelia sighed inwardly and tried to slip away quietly.

But Ronan grabbed her and pulled her onto the bed.

"I told you to leave me alone!" Ronan had been bottling up his frustration, with nowhere to vent.

She was back, but she had been skirting around the edge of danger. Her naive and childish demeanor

seemed deliberate.

She had done such a thing yet still looked so innocent, which infuriated Ronan.

Ronan ripped Cordelia's clothes off.

"I want to work in the Audit Department!" Cordelia told Ronan, who was sitting next to her.

Cordelia didn't want to use her privilege; she hoped to get into the Audit Department fair and square to

avoid gossip.

But the situation was different now. Watching others bustling with interviews while she could only stand

aside made her anxious. She wanted to work in auditing but didn't have the opportunity. She could only

get her CPA certificate next year, but by then, things might change and the job requirements might be

higher.

At this point, she was willing to ask Ronan for help, even though it was the last thing she wanted to do.

Cordelia's breath was hurried, her eyelashes fluttered, and her nostrils quivered slightly with her breath,

making her look like a very cute girl.

But why did her every request vex Ronan so much?

Cordelia could always easily ignite Ronan's anger.

She ignited the flames but did not put them out.

Putting out the flames was something Ronan had to do himself.

"Did you come back for this?" Ronan asked angrily.

"Of course not..." Cordelia wanted to say that it was just a coincidence, but before she could finish her

sentence, she was interrupted by Ronan.

"No!" Ronan cut Cordelia off before she could finish.

Cordelia's fighting spirit was completely extinguished.
