The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 81

Chapter 81

Brooklyn grabbed Cordelia's hand, trying to calm her down.

Deanna saw this and immediately said to Cordelia, "Alright then, where should I drop off the shirts for

you?"

"Um..." Cordelia replied, "If you bring them to the office, I might run into him and he'll realize that I didn't

actually get him any shirts. He might get mad, so can you drop them off at my dorm after work?"

"Sure thing. It's settled then." Deanna then took off.

"Are you a bit of a dunce or what? She's fooled you again and again, and you keep falling for it!"

Brooklyn continued. "I even gave you a hint by grabbing your hand, but you didn't bat an eye. If Mr.

Evans kicks you out again, don't expect me to take you in."

"How could I be so easily duped? Don't I know what she's really up to? Let's go back. There’s no need

to buy shirts tonight. We'll save some dough." Cordelia was happy and had a triumphant smile on her

face.

Brooklyn was puzzled, having no idea what Cordelia was thinking.

Cordelia had a good night's sleep that night. No one disturbed her, and she didn't have to get up early

the next day. She slept for a solid ten hours and went to work the next day feeling refreshed.

Not long after she started working, someone knocked on her desk.

Cordelia looked up to see Ronan standing there.

She instinctively stood up from her chair. "Mr. Evans."

This was the first time Ronan had come to the Finance Department.

The other employees were nervous. Although they all pretended to be working hard, they were curious

about Ronan's visit and held their breath to listen to the conversation between Cordelia and Ronan.

"Where's the shirt you bought me?" Ronan asked with a frown. NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

"Huh?" Cordelia thought to herself. "I'm going home tonight. Does he really need to come to the office

to get his shirt?"

She answered him. "I spent all night at Lumos Plaza yesterday, but I couldn't find the right one. I'll go

again tonight."

"Don't play games with me." Ronan frowned.

"What games am I playing? I have to find a shirt that suits you, don't I?" Cordelia was getting a bit

frustrated and started defending herself.

"So if you can't find one, you won't go home?" Ronan asked.

"Yes. The villa is too far from Lumos Plaza." Cordelia complained a bit.

"Do you find it more comfortable to stay in the dorm than at home?" He asked again.

Cordelia felt like something was off when she heard the word “comfortable.” What was he implying?

She eyed Ronan's outfit and saw that he was wearing a black shirt. He looked very handsome, tall, and

fit; he was very attractive.

"Hurry up!" With that, Ronan left.

Just now, Ronan had glanced at Cordelia's desk and saw a book: The CPA Success Blueprint.

She didn't take the book home anymore, only reading it during breaks at work and flipping through it

secretly in the office.

The colleagues in the office didn't understand whether Mr. Evans came to urge Cordelia to buy his

clothes as soon as possible or to urge Cordelia to go home as soon as possible. But the fact that Mr.

Evans could come to the Finance Department office in person was enough to show that this was

unusual.

Everyone began recommending websites where Cordelia could buy shirts, but all she said was

“thanks.”

She had her own plan.

Cordelia decided not to go home again that afternoon. She specifically sent a text to Ronan. "Hubby,

I'm going shopping again tonight."

"Should I thank you for caring so much about me?" Ronan's reply was sarcastic.

He had originally intended to let her stay in the dorm for one night.

Now it seemed like this was going to be an endless hassle, creating troubles that would just keep piling

up.

Cordelia only replied with a smiley face emoji.

At eight o'clock in the evening, Deanna's shirts were delivered. She didn't deliver them herself.

There were three shirts: one black, one navy blue, and one gray, all colors that Ronan usually wore.

She knew Ronan well.

Cordelia and Brooklyn carefully examined the shirts and found that the backs of the shirts all had

initials printed on them, likely Ronan's initials.

"Where can we find a tailor?" Cordelia asked.

"There's one right behind our dorm, The Suit Gallery. It's an old brand; it’s been around for a hundred

years.” Brooklyn said. “What are you up to?”

“Let’s go.” Cordelia grabbed Brooklyn and the three shirts and headed out the door.

She asked the tailor at The Suit Gallery to make three shirts identical to the ones she brought, but with

a change in the label, removing those initials.

The tailor said it would take ten days, and he couldn't guarantee the fabric would be exactly the same,

only that the appearance would be the same.

"As long as they look the same, that's fine."

After Deanna sent the shirts, she texted Ronan. "Ronan, last time I was in Dubai, I had three shirts

made for you. I ran into Cordelia buying shirts for you the other day and told her not to bother. I gave

her the shirts since she wanted to save some money."

Ronan read the message and began grinding his teeth in anger.

Then Cordelia sent him a text, asking if she could stay in the dorm for ten more days.

Ronan swallowed his anger and agreed.

He wanted to see what tricks Cordelia would play.

For the next ten days, Cordelia had a comfortable life. She went out to eat delicious food with Brooklyn

every day, watched TV dramas together in the evening, and finished reading Jamie's CPA Success

Blueprint. Jamie had a deep understanding of accountants.

During these ten days, the Audit Department started recruiting on the top floor.

Occasionally, Cordelia would see elites in high-end clothes going to the top floor for interviews. This

made her think about her unfulfilled dream of becoming an accountant, and her mood would instantly

drop.
