The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 110

Chapter 110

Off work now.

Cordelia spilled the beans to Brooklyn about everything and asked how much her salary bumped up.

"Me? My pay's shot up a few hundred bucks." Brooklyn's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Not too

shabby, actually."

A grimace appeared on Cordelia's face.

"You shouldn't have come to me this afternoon, but rather go to your hubby. You were too hard on him

at lunch." Brooklyn suggested, "Let's hit the streets, then you head home and demand a raise ASAP."

Cordelia agreed. She wasn't a numbskull to let her anger miss out on a chance for a pay raise.

The two found themselves in a cosmetics store, filled with products they didn’t usually see. And lo and

behold, Cordelia found her beloved Zenwood Soap. Before college, she used this soap a lot. It left a

faint sandalwood scent after a bath, which smelled heavenly. But she couldn't find it anymore since

college. She bought over a dozen this time and stashed them in her tote bag. It was as if she had

discovered a treasure trove.

In front of the pedestrian street, there was a stretch of vintage buildings, with a TV drama being filmed.

"Let's check it out, maybe we'll spot a celebrity?" Brooklyn suggested excitedly.

"Like you've never seen a celeb before?" Cordelia shrugged. She got peeved even thinking about

celebs.

Brooklyn still took her to the front of the crowd. The extras were dressed like something out of the

Renaissance.

"Ms. Deanna is here..." someone murmured.

A nanny van parked in the nearby alley, and Deanna stepped out. Cordelia frowned, why did she run

into this woman wherever she went?

She was loaded with work, right off the set of My Dear Dr. Rowland and onto this period drama set.

As Deanna approached, she spotted Cordelia and took the opportunity to take a swipe at her.

"Ms. Haselwood," Deanna, dressed in a purple flannel dress, looked graceful with an air of vintage

nobility. "Your cooking is actually quite good. The other day I was famished, and Ronan fed me your

food, leaving him hungry all afternoon." Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

This set Cordelia's teeth on edge. Moreover, she was curious where Ronan and Deanna had gone the

day before yesterday.

"My husband told me," Cordelia replied calmly. "He'll have my cooking again tomorrow. Ms. Deanna,

you're our guest. It's only right for him to look after you."

Deanna thought, “This woman has the nerve to talk back at me.”

Deanna spotted Cordelia's tote bag. Her tote was unzipped, filled with a lot of soap, and bulging. It was

easy to see what was inside.

"I have scenes to shoot today. I gotta run." Deanna left.

She thought, “Cordelia still uses this dollar-a-bar soap. What an embarrassment for Ronan.”

As she reached the front door of Pearl Palms, Cordelia hid her anger and discontent, replacing it with a

smile. She was going to have Ronan give her a raise.

"You're back?" Ronan was reading on the couch downstairs. His grandpa had gone to bed.

"Yeah, I'm back, dear," Cordelia replied smilingly. "I'm gonna prepare the ingredients for tomorrow's

lunch box in the kitchen."

Seeing Cordelia's expression, Ronan realized she'd always had her ducks in a row. Despite refusing to

cook during lunch, she'd started preparing now.

After prepping the ingredients, Cordelia said, "Dear, I'm gonna take a bath, you should call it a day

soon."

"Alright." Ronan's eyes were still on the book as he replied offhand.

Cordelia went upstairs for a bath, using her newly bought Zenwood Soap. After her bath, she put on

her comfy pajamas and hit the sack.

Ronan was already waiting in bed. He initially wanted to see Cordelia's next move, but a sudden scent

brought him back to reality.

"What's that smell?" he asked Cordelia.

"What smell?" Cordelia was drying her hair, "I don’t smell anything special."

"Come here," Ronan called Cordelia over.

When Cordelia climbed into bed, Ronan held her in his arms. Her pajamas felt really comfortable, and

her scent was refreshing. He was moved at this moment, the scent reminded him of something from six

years ago. Back then, he couldn't see, only smell this scent. But it'd been gone ever since.

Ronan felt a mix of emotions. He closed his eyes and planted a gentle kiss on Cordelia's cheek, her

eyebrows, her neck...

Cordelia thought, “What's with him?”

His hands gently cupped Cordelia's face, and he started kissing her lips passionately, it felt really good.

He gently pinned Cordelia under him again.
