In contrast to the harmony at Serenity Villa, the air in the Garcia residence hung thick with tension.

Caleb, Amelia, and Elena all looked equally grim. Terrified, the maids kept their distance and hid away.

Amelia turned toward Caleb and gritted out, “What should we do now? She only gave us three days.”

If Andrew refused to relent, the Garcia family would be

doomed.

Elena sat on a small separate couch across from her parents. Gloom flashed in her eyes, as she certainly hadn’t expected Madelyn to become so ambitious after she woke up.

Not only did the Millers resent Elena now, but she couldn’t even meet Andrew. Worse still, Madelyn intended to take over the entire Garcia family.

Looking sullen, Caleb ground out abrasively, “What else can we do? Of course, we have to-”

“Dad!” Elena suddenly interjected.

Her heart skipped a beat as she met Caleb’s cold gaze. She continued tentatively, “Does she really have that much

influence over Andrew?”

Sensing their silence, Elena grew anxious. She feared that Caleb might actually transfer her shares to Madelyn. If that happened, she would be left with nothing in the family.

“I mean, they also appeared affectionate to each other when they appeared in public even though they were still fighting.”

“Are you implying that it was all an act?” Amelia questioned sullenly.

“I’m just worried that our family’s issues still can’t be resolved after transferring the shares to Maddie,” Elena replied.

Amelia and Caleb exchanged a look. Recalling Madelyn’s past with Andrew, they couldn’t rule out the possibility that Elena might be right. What if it was all just an act?

In that case, their family’s issues would remain unresolved, and Madelyn might even end up taking over the family with those shares.

Infuriated, Amelia hollered, “I’ve underestimated Madelyn, indeed! Does she intend to kick us out of the family?”

“Mom, Maddie wouldn’t do that. I’m just worried that she doesn’t have much influence over Andrew.” 

Amelia’s fury reassured Elena. No matter what, they couldn’t just transfer the company’s shares to Madelyn under such circumst.

If Madelyn wanted to fight her, she’d better be prepared. Everything in the Garcia family was hers, and Madelyn shouldn’t even think about taking a single penny.

Amelia was exasperated nonetheless. If they had let Elena marry Andrew back then, they wouldn’t have been in such a dire situation.

At Serenity Villa, Madelyn was staring at Andrew in a daze. The dining table had yet to be cleared. She had initially intended to go upstairs and rest after dinner, but Andrew made her sit down instead.

But once she was seated, all he did was stare at her solemnly without uttering a single word.

Madelyn finally couldn’t bear it after ten minutes. “Darling, why are you looking at me like that?”

His gaze grew intense, filling her with a sense of uneasiness. She felt like he was about to reprimand her again.

Growing up, the affection in his eyes would always disappear whenever he was about to scold her. It was replaced by a stern and sullen look instead, making her feel unsettled.

“Why did you go to Lovitale?”

“Because I missed you,” Madelyn replied. Despite her confident tone, she began to feel guilty.

Andrew frowned. “Then why were you at the warehouse?”

“Because-”

“Think carefully before you answer,” he interrupted sternly before she could finish.
